Ordered 2021 GLE53 SUV in Feb. Still waiting 😩
We became eligible for early buyout on our 2018 lease so we placed lease order in Feb. Got estimated build date for May. Then got pushed back to "first decade" (not sure what that means) of June. Now pushed back to 3rd decade (last week) of June. Anymore delays and 2022's will be on showroom floor and I'm guessing our 2021 will be considered "left over". Back in end of August 2018, we got great deal on 2018 GLE43 leftover. Our first AMG. We have tasted the forbidden fruit and now we wanted more😅. So we were able, through family to get us even better deal that we were thankfully able to afford on 2021 GLE53 SUV. Although I see forum memebers with 2021 SUV's GLE in my general area, I have yet to see one on the road. Very surprised at the build delays but I see in the other forums stories of people placing their orders in October and finally receiving their vehicles in March/April. Are these unusual delays because of chip shortage? Back in early March 2018, we were eligible for early buyout of our 2016 GLE350 and wanted to order 2019 but the dealership we went to said they stop taking build orders in March and we weren't able to order. The mailing we got from this particular dealership stated they were able to get us in a 2019 for same price as our 2016...only to find out it was going to be a base 2019 with none of our current options. Clearly not what I call *a deal". Even the sales person leveled with us and agreed this was no deal. Mind you, we were leasing from this dealership for 11 years and there was a new sales manager and the mailing was not, in my opinion, an honest one. Needless to say, we said our goodbyes to future business with that dealership due to, again, my opinion, lack of their honesty. The sales person we dealt with for years retired after almost 40 years with them and there was a new regime that I assume he wanted no part of. Later found out through the forum that 2019s were going to be limited builds and whatever the dealerships received were what was going to be available. Meaning we had no choice whatever options we wanted/didn't want and we ended up riding the 3 year lease to the end while our now favorite dealership was tirelessly trying to find a 2019 with the options/color we wanted. He was able to find a few at other dealerships but his screen showed "no dealer swaps" and Mercedes financial was only going to give us I think 2 or 3 month extension on our current lease so we were stuck between a rock and a hard place. That's when I saw they had 2 identical 2018 GLE43 SUV leftovers and I asked what kind of deal would they be able to give us on it. I tell you, they really dropped the #'s on the asking and were able to get us in our first AMG. This time around, our favorite salesman wasn't able to match what wife's family member was able to offer us on 2021 GLE53 SUV. Not even close and he didn't blame us and understood us placing our order with the other dealership that we never had experience with before because the discount was far beyond what they were willing to do. So here we are. Waiting as our early buyout months are chipping away and currently looking at a middle of July (hopefully with no more pushbacks) delivery date and I pray the vehicle will be immaculate with no damage bad 😱 enough where I would actually refuse to take delivery. Anyone else in the same situation as us?
thanks!

Too good to be true is often not true.

Possible. But Gen mgr saw estimated production date of June 28 and said he didn't have a vin It would be great if your info is correct! That could be ours. Thank you so much for looking into it for me.

I ordered a 2021 about 4 months ago and just got it. Drive with your salesperson for a good bit before you take it home and pay for it. Mine is having quite a bit of "jerking" issues between gears and when stopping in comfort mode. Some say that's a break in thing but seems awfully rough for an almost $100K car by the time it is customized, my old Audi Q7 drove smoother than this...
