I would suggest adding 8.5 qts then check the level after running the engine a couple minutes.

Exactly. All these techs do is stick a bulk feed gun into the fill hole and hammer in the stipulated capacity. This is why I don't take my vehicles to outside sources for PMs and this is also why I wish the vehicles had dipsticks as a redundant measure to immediately ascertain levels/avoid overfilling/partial (messy) draining.

That's not the procedure any more. The drain plug is also a "fill to overflowing" plug that should be hard to defeat - if it's used.
