CPO and Approval - Tech Advice

Reading the CPO report for a given vehicle, it states that the tire and brake pad/rotor measurements are supposed to be recorded. I have seen one report with such detailed information from one dealer but several others like this one attached that simply say passed (although it indicates to record the measurements). When asking the dealer for that info to understand what life is left on those items, I am told they are not recorded and if they are they have to be replaced. That is not what it says on the CPO report and I was looking for some input from a MB authority.

Are you in a dispute with the dealer or insurance company? What prompts the question?

This place is a joke.
Mercedes-Benz, in their complete detachment from the reality of what happens at profit-driven independent franchises (aka dealerships) often asks for a lot of procedures that are not done at the dealerships for various reasons. That particular form you posted, in yellow and blue, is at least 20 years old and Mercedes-Benz has never updated it for their modern vehicles. That should tell you something about the dysfunction in the industry. You'll notice there is no provision on those lines to record or write anything. Dealership sales departments often pressure the service department to do the absolute minimum to "pass" a car through the CPO inspection to maximize their profit when selling the car. Technicians are still payed on the broken and antiquated "flat rate" system in which their financial interest is to get the car out of their service bay as quickly as possible, often leading to substandard and careless work, CPO inspections included. Several years ago MB catered to the dealers who were complaining that the tire standards were cutting too far into their profits on CPO certifications. They cried that 7/32" minimum tread depth was too much, and MB folded and agreed that 5/32" would be the "new" standard. For reference, a tire is legally bald at 3/32". Keep in mind these dealers make anywhere from one million to several million dollars A MONTH in profit.

Nope. Was just curious since I have asked for documentation but not had it provided. Thus no sale since it is all sight unseen.
