GLE53 Coupe - Phone Mount?

What’s everyone using for a sleek phone mount solution? Any pics?

I use this. Very pleased so far - holds phone securely and easy to remove. Hasn't damaged the leather either. I got a flat usb-c cable and it tucks nicely into the side of the Armrest cover and plugs in inside there.

I didn't want any of the solutions that blocked the dash controls or air vents, or was up on the windshield (too far away - I drive with the seat all the way back - I'm 6'3"); plus I need to interact (safely) with things like jbv1 and Google maps. Right at my fingers. There are a lot of phone mount choices. Good luck with the search.

I found this on Amazon and I love it. It doesn’t really block the vents and it is super secure. It clips on the outside of 2 adjacent vents and sits between them. I placed it between the 2 vents on the right and tilted towards the driver.

it was so great that I bought one for the wife’s E350 which is designed for round vents. It works just as well and she likes it…which is most important!

This is what I've bought for our GLEs (magnetic, so if you don't have a magsafe iPhone, YMMV). Small and secure.

Jeez. The mounts in the last few posts are gaudy and intrusive. I use a simple magnetic mount on all of my Mercedes. It is so easy to place and remove the phone and to rotate it. Here's a link to the mounts that just require a thin disk of metal applied to the back of your phone:

You can find a place on your dash to mount it. Here's a photo on my CLS -- I'm not with my GLE currently so I can't provide a photo.

i noticed this one uses adhesive. Any issues with the adhesive damaging the trim? Can it be safely removed?

No problem with adhesive. You just have to find a relatively flat smooth surface to mount it. I will post a picture of the placement on the GLE later this week. It is so easy to place the phone, rotate it and remove it -- no prongs or spring tabs to separate, an easy one-hand operation.

I actually went through a lot of the reviews for the adhesive one and it seems that removing them can damage the paint or surface underneath.

I wish I could find one that can sit on the left side of the center console, so the phone is between my leg and the center console. This would minimize the cord length for CarPlay while keeping the phone somewhat out of sight.

Sure on the adhesive concern. I'd only place an adhesive mount on a glass or perhaps a smooth plastic surface. Here's a photo of my GLE mount which is just above the Emergency Flasher Button. The buttons behind the phone are still accessible but they are rarely used and if needed, the phone can simply be picked up with one hand to expose the buttons. (I would not place the adhesive on the charcoal surface around the vents, for example.)

That's a pretty clever placement for that mount!
That's the only useful phone mount I've ever found. However my complaint with it is that it leaves the magnet part on the phone, and it doesn't slide in and out of my pocket as well.

Really! The magnet disc is so thin and there are multiple size discs that come with the mount. I never have this problem. Here's a photo of the back side of my phone, a Motorola Edge (with a case on the phone).

FWIW, I mount my metal disk under the case. Still works great on all my mag mounts and I have galaxy s22 large phone.

I'm curious. In the age of Siri Eyes Free, CarPlay and Android Auto why do you still want a phone mount? In the past I've used ProClip (https://www.proclipusa.com/) for the closest to OE look phone mounts specifically designed for each car, but haven't used one for years. Still use their suction cup mount for when I'm traveling and we have one in the wife's car, because it neither has Bluetooth nor CarPlay etc. My wife didn't like the placement of the custom mount and preferred it mounted to the windshield. In my car my phone stays tucked away. Either in the door pocket if I'm not using CarPlay or plugged in and tucked away in the center console. I interact with it using voice commands and/or CarPlay and the physical controls of the car that are easy to use while driving as opposed to the tiny phone screen.
