I recently purchased a 2017 gle63s and am really enjoying it. I notice every once in a while when I get out of the car there is almost and clutch or brake burning smell coming from behind or maybe under the passenger headlight (LHD). Has anyone experienced this? No issues have come up with it. No noises that I can tell and no codes from my reader.

 

Any visible fluids? Pictures?

 

no visible fluid or pics to take. The small reservoir under the carbon fiber cover is a bit low. Going to fill it to see if it loses it somewhere.

 

Maybe just a guess. But a common issue is an oil leak directly on top of the catalytic converter.

 

it's not an oil burning smell. More like a hot brake metal like smell. The engine itself is so so clean. Would be easy to see a leak i think.

 

What about a hot coolant vapor smell? GLEs and other MB models are known to give off coolant vapors from the circulation pump and its connections. Most noticeable when the engine is hot, for example after shutdown after a long drive.

 

I do smell a coolant smell from time to time, but this one is different
