Purple on bumper flare/scoop ? GLE 63 2016 - Normal? How to Fix?

So I am looking at a few 2016 GLE 63 pictures and notice what looks to be a purple area on the bumper 'scoop'. At first I thought it was maybe someone who liked purple and maybe customized it.
Then I found another 2016 GLE 63 and the same purple is there..
I called the dealership and asked if it was actually purple or just an oddity of the camera or lighting or something. He went out and filmed it and said 'yep, it actually looks purple to me'.

What is this and have others seen this?
Iassume it was black and faded some how? Has anyone fixed this? Did you have to buy a new bumper?
Is this a customization?

Thanks

It's seemingly a paint defect or some kind of degradation over time of the material used for that area of the bumper: Front bumper black trim has faded - MBWorld.org Forums

Mine looks similar. My guess is UV rays.
