Our SUV has the 3rd row so there is no spare at all. We are planning on using it for some trips that will be well out of the nearest town though still highways. Has anyone tried the Modern Spare version for this SUV?
I got one of them for my M5 (19” spare vs 20” wheels) a couple of years ago because we were using it for vacation trips across the Western US. Tried it in the driveway before leaving and it works great.
The Modern Spare for the SUV is an 18” wheel that says it fits “All standard wheel options”. Our SUV has the 22” wheels. That just seems like a huge difference.

Anyone with experience?

Somewhere around here someone mentioned buying a collapsible spare. Maybe search for something like that to save space.

FWIW, I trust Modern Spare to have all the pieces correct for the car, and if they say their kits will fit a particular model's boot, it probably will, including their jacks, chocks and bags if you get them.

I don't know what they mean by "fit's all standard wheel options," which would be to have clarified. My experience has been they're very responsive and knowledgeable with a phone call.

More important than the different wheel size is the overall diameter.
A skinny spare would have high aspect ratio, and it should be the same diameter as the full size wheel.

I don't how much different tire sizes affect the 4Matic. That would be good to verify.
