W167 GLE63 Body Main Harness
So apparently my car didn't start up so it was at the dealership. They had it for 3 weeks and said the fuse box needs to be replaced and no ETA on that part. Now they called saying the main body harness needs to be replaced. It will take over 6+ months to be made and shipped to the US. I think this is complete BS and I think a dealership is overlooking that it isn't just a battery issue. They keep saying the battery is good and there is a draw somewhere that is killing the battery. It sounds to me like the 48V Mild Hybrid battery needs to be replaced. I wish I could just tow it to another dealer and get a second opinion!
Symptoms: The car would not crank over but all electronics start up fine. I did get a brake light while trying to start the car.

What year is it, still under warranty? Any other similar issues that it's been in for repairs on? Depending on your state, maybe you could purse a lemon law claim?

Yes, thank god under warranty. There were no symptoms but it all happened after they updated the car. I cannot do lemon since I am the second owner.

Sorry about your harness issue. I don't know if this is coincidence but I've been seeing more and more of this recently, see similar work here:

Personally, I'd trade my vehicle in for something else after they're done. I just don't think everything will work the same as before after this extensive work.

One of the nice things about European wiring harnesses is that they use CANBus throughout the car. Every module has to handshake with its SAM, allowing fewer wires, better communication with easier troubleshooting. (US cars are catching up in that area.)
Moving in and out of a loaner car, and the downtime, is frustrating.

Given that they actually found a problem, I'll bet I'll bet that you have a good outcome.

That is a big *** job vs not trying to fix the smaller things first. This all happened after they did the software update on the hybrid battery.
