GLE63s Coupe vs GLS580?

I know, I know….completely different models, but it’s where my wife is at. Apologies for the drawn out post, but wanting some feedback.

Let me start with what we require:

-We only *need* 5 seats, as our family is only 4 (3yo and a newborn shortly)
-We only want a V8, before they’re extinct
-Needs to have a SUV type stance, as my wife hates lower sitting cars (so any E class/S class autos are out of the picture)

So fast forward to now, after multiple test drives and offers from our dealer, I had a GLS580 build solidified. But I was just told, as an alternative option, I could take a MY2025 GLE Coupe for the same discount we got on the GLS ($5k off), after my wife mentioned how she loves the look of them. It would 100% be a MY2025 as they already have enough orders to fulfill May and even June allocations.

The completely optioned out GLS580 is about $131k before discount, the GLE63s Coupe is $143k with current order guide, I’d expect MY2025 to be around the same. The only thing I can foresee is if they offered Burmester 3D next year, which would then tick it up to $148k. We considered the GLS63, but we think the $160k price tag isn’t really justified to go AMG when it’s such a massive vehicle?

So anyhow, what is everyone’s thoughts in this unusual model comparison? Personally I’m rooting for the GLE Coupe as I had one on order earlier this year but my wife was thinking it might be too small with a growing family. But I think the kids are so young it’s unnecessary to have 7 seats for another 5-7 years (and I can have a bit more fun driving). We are a 1 car only family so there’s no secondary vehicle.

Out of town Grandparents ever visit and you all go out? Maybe drive some of the kids' friends when they are a little older? How about road trips? Haul any large items? The coupe might not be ideal in these situations for a one car family but only you know best.

This was essentially what I was thinking too. I guess I’m just hesitant to want to spend so much on a vehicle for a 5% of the time use case haha.

I'm 6 ft tall. Even with the driver's seat set on the lowest position, I have to duck a bit to get in.

I would choose the smaller, lighter car for performance and handling, but headroom is an issue. Visibility out of the back is lower and to me it feels claustrophobic.

If we're taking a two week trip, even two of us fill up the back storage on the SUV. The Coupe wouldn't work. Even our GLC is Capacity Constrained.

But with ARC standard on the 63S, the car really feels much smaller than it is.
Tough choice.

Would you consider the GLE63s, GLE53, or GLE580 SUV? Might be a good in between.

Alright guys, made the decision. Sticking with GLS580 but adding E-ABC for the best possible ride. Grandparents will likely visit a lot with the newborn and it’s better to ride as a family we decided. Plus we’ll have tons of cargo space for upcoming road trips, as we inevitably won’t fly as much the first few years of the small one.

Appreciate the feedback!

Stay away from MB's electro suspensions and stick to the basic airmatic for longevity and lower maintenance costs.
