Planned to change the fluid in my 2017 GLE43 tonight. Picked up the fluid from the Mercedes dealer. They gave me Gold MB 236.17 fluid - said it was the same as the transmission.

When I pulled the transfer case plug red fluid came streaming out. I'm hesitant now to put the gold fluid in.

The MB Operating fluids site is no help.

What to the MBWorld expert say?

The transfer case has the same fluid as the trans. The gear oil is used in the differentials. I have a 2017 GLE43 and changed all the fluids at 75k.

As far as Iknow they are differet fluids.Gold 236.17 for tranny and red 236.12 (3353) for transfer case. I already ordered both. What did you do at last?
