I wondered what the difference was between A1663100200 and A2923100037 which is what is supposed to be the only tow bar that is compatible. Nice to know it fits.
I’m assuming you also installed the MB tow module with the wire harness? Did you have the dealer install it?

I was driving my new car and did something that i am not so proud of today. I was trying different thing and pushed on muffler and gear button on the left of my 2024 GLE S63s. I did not know that gear button is the manual transmission engagement. And I don't remember the car speed at the timing of pressing those two buttons and don't know what gear i was actually in. All of sudden in the middle of the freeway going about 65 miles per hour, I was hearing the loud whining noise. I thought it was another car near me. I think the total duration was about 1-2 minutes. When I realized it was my own car and looked up the rpm, and it was around 5000-5500 rpm.. I immediately switched it to comfort button which took me to auto drive and stopped the noise. Did I hurt my car today?
I doubt it. I would assume that a rev limiter wouldn't allow it to go beyond redline. I had this happen in a non-Mercedes before and there was no harm. This is not the right thread for this question, so I would repost to make it it's own topic so those with more knowledge on that motor would be more likely to see it.
Thanks for sharing your story. — I was bit shaken after something like that, especially with a high-performance car. From the shared posts and stories, I am coming to the conclusion that it didn't cause any serious damage.
AMG Smart Protection: Modern Mercedes-AMG models are built with intelligent transmission protection systems. They usually won’t allow downshifts that would push the engine past redline. So even if you pressed something, the car probably limited it
Short Duration: The high RPM only lasted 1–2 minutes, which isn’t ideal, but engines are designed to handle those revs occasionally — especially performance engines like the AMG V8.
No warning lights: or any warning messages or odd behaviors after switching back — which is a great sign.
Listen for any strange noises, lags in shifting, or warning lights. If everything feels normal — you’re good.
