How's the base Burmester sound from 2023 on?

How's the base Burmester sound from 2023 on?
From my understanding the base Burmester was crap in the 2021 and 2022. I avoided that in my 2022 because I ordered the upgraded Burmester (DC6) for $4,550 and it was great. I also liked the extra ambient light you got from the speakers on the top of the door panel area and the speakers in the headliner. In 2023 the upgraded system was no longer available as an option. They left the watts and speaker count the same as in the old base Burmester but redid the acoustics by adding the "front bass" system in the footwell area. Is this correct? Also, I'd assume it probably suffices because I really don't hear complaints anymore like I used to (2021,2022). Seems odd they don't offer the upgraded Burmester any longer as it would be easy additional profit for them.

The base Burmester got both better and worse as updates were downloaded. The most recent audible change (two years ago?) was a downgrade.
I really miss the 3D version on my '20. I ordered it on my '21 but my SA dropped the ball.
Right now, there are only two things that I don't really love about the car. One is the sound system, and the other is the availability of tires in my 21-in staggered size.

My 21 GLE has the 3D (major upcharge option) and it sounds better than my 22 S580 3D (standard as 4D is the upcharge sound system in the S class). Does the GLE 3D sound better than my factory "premium" sound in my Super Duty Ford truck system? Not to me. Definitley not for thousands more it cost. People are very subjective though when it comes to sound systems.

The dealer gave me a new GLE350 loaner last week that was pretty loaded except it had the base sound system. It leaves very much to be desired. It is one of the worst sounding stereos in a vehicle I have listened to in quite a while. The loaner GLC's with the base system sounded better

I had Burmeister 3d in my 2020 S63C (bloody expensive option at that) and I was not impressed at all, as compared to B&O in my M5 before that. Now, 2025 GLE63S stock Burmeister is impressive, but may be it is more about suffering Rivian for the last months

The base Burmester in my 2025 is a real disappointment. It completely lacks any bass at all. I really don’t understand why the higher end version wasn’t available (though to be honest, I’ve never heard that one and it’s possible it isn’t any better so they dropped it)

Without employing the Focus function (or whatever it's called), it's merely "Impressive."

... adding more to this. It actually sounds better if you enable sound focus and pick front or rear (even if you're not sitting in the one you select). You can also do the sound profile thing and that helps as well, but it's more or less impossible to get a meaningful amount of bass out of the system (which it's capable of doing) without also muddying up everything else.

you can create your own sound profile and it can sound insane you have to go thru the steps and try it out
I’ll say this burmester on my 2020 gle 350 is amazing
i think slightly better than my 24 gle 63 lol
It’s on par with my high end 3D in my S class cabriolet
for pre 2024 people in the settings put the sound to the rear seats it becomes a crazy surround sound
That same setting doesn’t work as well on the 24 for some reason!! I went thru my 24 create custom sound profile however recently after year and half with car and got it really sounding amazing now !!
On another note I think Burmester is the best system
i have new Bentley with 9k naim system and it’s trash
I also like Burmester better than B and O and Sensonum in Lambo

I just picked up a 2026 GLE63 and the 13-speaker Burmester is markedly better than my 2023 S580 and the 2024 GLE53 I traded - neither had options for upgraded audio (I'm guessing due to the chip shortage ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). However, 2he 2026 version is louder, has more clarity, and depth. It actually thumps pretty good.
