This will indeed steal away from the ML350. The GLK will be offered with the same v6 engine, and have the same seating capacity as an ML. The GLK will almost certainly under cut the ML in price by at least five or six grand fully loaded, so why pay the extra money for the ML?
That all being said, I made a similar post on the ML board about the newly refreshened ML. The spy photos show a tire carrier on the back of the ML, which could mean that the ML will gain an optional third row, so it would gain extra seating over this GLK.
I'm starting to like the GLK the more I see of it, can't wait to see one in person. Hopefully in a color other than white, or silver, the lighter colors make it look too much like a Subaru as others have pointed out.

Interesting... looks like the interior of the new C class more than the M.
They've taken the shifter off the column and put it back in the center console.

Hi,
am I alone in actually preferring the shifter on the center console ?
I find the tipping left/right actually easier that the buttons behind the wheel.
Maybe it just takes some getting used to.

MB claims the NA GLK will be offered with the Bluetec in Jan '09. This diesel uses a complicaed emissions system that has 2 elements that concern me. First is the introduction of a fluid into the exhaust system, which is stored in a seperate tank and is dealer-only refillable. http://www.daimlerchrysler.com/dccom...0-0-0-0-0.html Under MB's "controlled" tests, this fluid is depleted to the tune of 1-quart per 625-miles driven. So, if the average oil change is every 10,000 miles then this tank must hold at least 16-gallons. So, if the fluid runs out, then you're stuck.. unlike if the miles go over your oil change.
Furthermore, there is a secondary lean-rich operation which is designed to rejuvinate one of the catalysts.. and I believe this process to be a super-heating of the exhaust similar to how the '07 cummins ram truck's exhaust operates.. which there has been some troubles, especially if you don't drive on expressways or long open country roads. Real trouble of you frequent in-town and stop-n-go driving habits.

Ha ha ha...Yeah when I first seen the off road version I wasn't too thrilled, but now that the pictures of the on road lowered version are surfacing I'm starting to be interested.
