Ontario MB owner
Good to hear from a Ontarian. I live in Shelburne.
I have a newly acquired2006 S500 with SIRIUS radio selection but apparently no SIUIUS tuner was available in Canada in '06. Do you or other readers know of any MB upgrade?.... Otherwise a good aftermarket most integrated solution?

ok so my dealer tells me that the truck will be in Halifax next week.
Also, he said MB hasnt sent him a VIN yet..
1. Should he have the VIN already?
2. How long does it take from Halifax to Toronto ?

You should have your VIN. I have mine. Call your dealership, and they can access their Netstar system and get it for you. They should also be giving you regular updates where your car is. I bought my car from Mercedes Durham in Whitby and they have been great at letting me know what is happening. I got my VIN when the car was first locked in their system on March 22nd. Heck the car had not been finished yet and I had the VIN from them. They are great.
When the car is on the ship, then you can track it using the shipping companies website. Someone already posted that link. You can etner your VIN into the cargo ID section on their site and it will tell you the ship.
I ordered my GLK late February. It was made March 22nd, and March 23rd. It arrived at the ship yard via rail on March 24th, and was loaded on the ship in Bremen's port on March 28th. So if your car is on the same ship, an I think it may, then this is the latest info I have on it:
Vessel: DON PASQUALE
Voyage: EA913-DOP
BREMERHAVENGERMANY27/03/200928/03/2009GOTHENBURGSWEDEN29/03/200929/03/2009ZEEBRUGGEBELGIUM31/03/200931/03/2009SOUTHAMPTONUNITED KINGDOM01/04/200901/04/2009HALIFAX, NSCANADA09/04/200909/04/2009
I then googles the name of the ship and found this cool link which shows you some info on the ship itself:
http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/shipdetails.aspx?MMSI=265441000
If you click on the current longitude and latitude in the above webpage, it will then take you to a map of the ships last known reported location. Link for my ship is below:
http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/default.aspx?oldmmsi=265441000&zoom=10&olddate=4/2/2009%206:47:41%20AM
Once ship arrives in Halifax, it then goes by train I believe to Concord, ON. It may take a week to get to Concord, and then sit in Concord for a few days. Then off onto a truck to your dealership. Dealership needs a few days tops to prep, license, etc.
I am thinking if my car is in Halifax on April 9th, then it will be in Concord around April 16th, and to the dealership by the 21st. So I expect I can pick it up the last week of April.

It may take the 10 days because it all depends how long it takes to get out of the railway yard at Concord I heard. But I am not expert.
What I read on this forum was Concord is backed up, too many cars from other manufacturers not moving, clogging things up.
I'd think it would take at least two days to prep at the dealership as you need to prep and license it.

My car was released from the ship on March 26. Local dealer says that it is still sitting in Halifax (now is Apr 8). Is it normal? How long did it take for your car to be loaded on the train?

2010 GLK350 4Matic - Calcite White
New owner
Just wanted to say hi to all my fellow Canadians. I am awaiting the phone call to go and pick up my brand-spanking new GLK.......which arrived in Canada on the 1st. Fell in love with this car at the Toronto AutoShow and never looked back! This is my first Benz and I cannot wait to drive it around.
I love it even more since I don't see it as much on the road as, say, the C-Class sedans. I live in Markham, so you can imagine how many Mercedes-Benzes there are driving around!!! So far I have only seen 3 GLKs - White (w. Sports pkg.), Tenorite Grey and Bonamite Silver. One in Thornhill and two in Scarborough (heading back to Markham of course....)
Anyway, looking forawrd to trading and sharing thoughts on this unique vehicle!

**update: just called my dealer and he said it will be at Mississauga Benz on the 17th. I wish it was sooner but what can I do.
The only thing that pisses me off is that my current lease is over tomorrow and they aren't giving me a loaner car cause " they have too many out already" wtf..
Which dealership did you order yours from?

I am from Ottawa. So far the delivery is taking twice as much time as was promised by the dealer initially (and I still don't have the car). But they do promise a loner (I am without a car as well for second week). I will let you know how my dealership handles it...

My car arrived in Halifax today at 3PM. 3:36 to be exact. Dealership told me two to three weeks til delivery now that it has arrived in Halifax. They think it will be closer to two weeks, but didn't want to overpromise. So should have before the end of the month. I ordered the car I think Feb 20th. Was told March 22/23 production, and originally they expect the car to be delivered in May. So getting it at the end of April at the latest is still a bit better than they first told me.
Fishsriz, let me know when you get delivery, as I am curious how long it took yours from ordering to delivery.

OK, I'm starting to get quite irritated & frustrated to put it nicely...I still don't have a VIN..I've called my salesperson a few times, but he still hasn't given me the VIN...However, he said I could have mine by the end of April (originally it was mid May).
I'm doing my best to see if it's on one of the ships with yr GLKs...I bought it on Feb. 15 and I believe it was a March 2nd production...anybody have any clue? thx guys...

I bought mine on the 11th. My build date was roughly the same time as you.
I tried to get my VIN # from the date of production till I FINALLY got in on this past monday. I feel your pain!
Which dealer are you dealing with?

OK, so I finally got the VIN from the dealer today, & this is the info I get when I put it in:
Port Country Arrival Departure
BREMERHAVEN GERMANY 27/03/2009 28/03/2009
GOTHENBURG SWEDEN 29/03/2009 29/03/2009

SOUTHAMPTON UNITED KINGDOM 01/04/2009 01/04/2009

BRUNSWICK, GA U.S.A. 15/04/2009 15/04/2009
So my question is, is my car going to be loaded on to the train from Brunswick, GA and delivered to me here in Van, BC Canada, or is it still going to have to travel on the ship to somewhere else before it gets on the train???
Does anyone have any idea???
Thanks.

Once they off load the Canadian cars in Halifax, they then continue down the eastern seaboard dropping off US Spec cars.
Cars coming off the ship in Halifax that are being sent here because someone already ordered it are given a RUSH sticker, and are supposed to be loaded on the train before any other cars being sent over. So basically if you pre-order a car, it should be given priority to the ones being sent here to be sold once on the lot.
I am dealing with Mercedes Benz Durham in Whitby, Ontario. They've been great at sending me info, and keeping me up to date. I had my VIN the same day it was "locked" into the production cycle. Mercedes Benz dealerships must have your VIN at this point, and their Netstar system will tell them the VIN and where the car is.
I would think you should be in your car before the end of the month.

So your car is on a cross country trip which includes europe and North America eh All jokes aside, best of luck with delivery and keep us informed on delivery.

Your car will have been offloaded in Halifax on the 8th. Same day mine came into Halifax. It will get sent across the country by train, then to some depot at the end of the train ride. Then a few days later will be trucked to the dealership.

Like I just mentioned in my previous post to Rorie, of course mine gets dropped off in Halifax & doesn't go to the U.S.....geez..I don't know how I didn't think of that...but to my defence, it was @ like 12:30am or w/e...so I was tired (studying my butt off for Finals)! naw...I know I can't cover that one up..that was just plain stupid...ahahahaha.
