Canadian GLK Owners

Just wanted to say Hi, and wanted to know how many members we have in Canada and from what parts? For those who taken their delivery can you post some reviews on them (the drive in snow, what you like, dislikes), would be appreciated. For Ontario owners, where did you buy your car, and how much discount did you receive?

I don't mean any disrespect to any members from the US, just wanted to know who the members from Canada are.

Thanks....

Snow performance in my GLK has so far exceeded all my expectations. (with Pirelli all seasons) Have yet to find a real challenge for the 4matic. I can't wait to try it with a set of 17" rims and a set of REAL winter tires next year. Bring on the snow!!!

Purchased in Ottawa, discount of $1350. Seems most people are doing better on price than I did. Many have reported getting 2k off. I was too impatient...just give me the keys!

Dislikes: running boards = dirty dress pants. I'm getting about 400-450km per tank so its a thirsty little vehicle... but then again I only have about 1100kms of city winter driving on it so far. Numbers might improve. The glove compartment is brutal. I can't even fit the GLK manuals in there. I have my media interface cables laying in there. I put the GLK manuals in the glove box once and it actually popped open as I drove. It really is a terribly designed glove box! (I hope another GLK owner will back me up on this!) It's almost funny as the rest of the vehicle design is so well executed. There's a compartment in the passenger door that will hold the manuals just fine.

Likes: way too many of them to list. It's really fun to drive, loaded with nice features and the backseat has so far been fine for adults of all sizes on short trips. I take my co-workers out for lunch several times per week and I've yet to hear a single complaint from the backseat. (you know your backseat is hurtin when people call 'shotgun', hasn't happened yet)

Well, since it is very cold back on the east coast and I am presently on a tropical island in the mid-Pacific, I have no regrets to not be in Halifax !

Surprised by your comments on the glove box. My recollection is that the glove box was quite accommodating; I figured that it would easily hold my DSLR camera + an extra lens. The GLK that I tested did not have the media cables; perhaps they make a significant difference to the capacity (??).
One other useful feature of the glove box is the AC duct to cool it.

After the winter we have had on the west coast, I'm very encouraged by your comments about performance in the snow, despite having ONLY all season tires. With real snow tires, it sounds like the GLK will be awesome on snow !

Hello Canadian GLK Owners,

I am in London, Ontario...still waiting for my GLK, being built Feb 2.2. (second 10 days in Feb). I received $2000 off and my $500 coupon. I decided to stay with the standard 19" wheels...I do like the aluminum roof rails but I was told even if I ordered the sport package the roof rails would be black due to supply shortages of aluminum roof rails. I enjoyed the "Fire and Ice" GLK video. I also checked out YouTube videos with GLKs.

Hey, Was it hard to negotiate the price down? I'm thinking of getting one. Also, do you negotiate the price before ordering or after it arrives? Thanks!

Yes I have also drivin it in the snow, and up a very steep hill. I was blown away by the 4th gen 4matic. I can see this thing getting stuck anywhere with reasonable tread on it.

Dislikes: running boards = dirty dress pants. Ya I can see that, the body comes out and will get your leg.

The glove compartment is brutal. Hahah all Mb glove boxes are small

Likes: way too many of them to list.
+1 incredible little unit to drive everyday.

Not an owner yet...but was wondering for the canadian owners during the deep freeze, are there any problems with regards to the heating? It appears that a few B class owners are encountering this when it gets -20 and colder...nothing but cold air from the vents...

GLK delivery should be March 16 to March 20.

The purchase price was negotiated prior to ordering...we started at $1000 discount...I added the headlight package...the dealer dropped another $1000...I waited a week...the dealerhsip called back...I received the $500 Mercedes Canada Coupon...the deal was signed.

On two test drives in Jan '09, the temp was around -20 with windchill of -28, I found the heating worked great.

For the Canadians who ordered their GLK, can you confirm if wood option is now available? If not, any mention of when? Also, what about aluminium roof rails and Keyless-Go?

I'm considering a GLK but must have wood trim and aluminium roof rails. Keyless-go I'm ok without.

EDIT: Found the answer in another thread. June production would mean July/August delivery? Yikes...

Hi Daniel. 451/443=EW is Sam who joins our group meets.
I believe he works in sales at MB-Burnaby on Boundary.

So you are interested in a GLK now, eh?

I ordered my GLK with wood trim (special order. dealer have about 8 GLKs that they can order them with wood trim), delievery date of my GLK is around mid to end of April 2009.

If you order the sport package (20" wheels), then it will come with the aluminium roof rails (for Canada). This information is from my dealer.

No it wont.. check your order.. Mine is delivery the first or second week of April.
Check to see if its SPA for your sport "appearance" package.

But if you are getting the roof rails let me know what dealership you ordered from and I wil be stopping by mine right away..
