it's definately a great idea. i never had one, but what ever you can do to protect your car from idiots is worth the money and "dorkyness". now they have to make one for the front and your golden!

This looks like a good idea. However my experience with parking scratches was all in door side, bumper corner area. This guard won't help anything. I guess this depends on where you live and park. Don't know if you have different experiences.

I see those on almost every other car in NYC and parts of NJ. I think it's a great idea when you parallel park between cars. I see so many cars with beat up rear bumpers who dont have this. I agree with yualfred that its' useless in garages and reg. parking lots. I've also seen somthing simlar that covers entire front (saw in S-Class) so no one bumps into you.
Not sure how many of you here have seen guys in parking garages in NYC but they back in untill car touches the other car. In front you have lisence plate as protection, so rear bumper cover is a must in those cases.

Ugly but useful. See them all throughout the city. Even if you don't think your car is gonna be backed into........think again. I saw a Bentley Arnage backing into an S class on Madison like it was no big deal at all..

Does anyone know where you can buy those bumper bars that are installed on top of your front license plate? It aligns up with the screws for your front plate, but protrudes enough so that someone backing into you hits it first.
