Corner Illumination
A month ago or so somebody posted pic of corner illuminating light and I was pretty confused. My understanding was that one of the fog lights comes on to illuminate the corner. NOT so. Fog light does NOT come on, but the light in the pic does (in red circle).
And actually this light is quite noticeable when you are turning.

Thanks when are you getting yours? Fog lights (on the bottom of the car) don't come on, just these ones (circled in the pic) do. I didn't have camera handy to take a pic when I was checking out this feature.

reposted, see the circled bulb, works pretty well. Sometimes I think that there is another car coming when this light comes on.
But the xenons are really good and adapting lighting is neat on dark curvey roads. Def. recommend the lighting packages. Also the rear led blinkers are nice touch and they only come with lighting package.

Is the corner illuminating light triggered by turning the steering wheel or using the turn signal (or both)? If the steering wheel controls it, how far do you have to turn the wheel before it comes on?

either one triggers it. I'm not sure how much you have to turn the wheel, but I'd guess 60-90 degree rotation of the wheel will do it. It's basically for when you are making 90 degree turns so you can see what's there before your headlights are shinning that way, like turning into a driveway. It also turns the opposite light when making a turn in reverse.
This function works only at slow speeds under 15-20mph don't remember exactly.

I think I read that too somewhere, but fogs don't come on as part of corner illumination, tested myself. There is no need tho, corner lamps are bright and work much better than fog lights as they actually shine to the side and not straight.

http://www3.mercedes-benz.com/teclex/main_en.html Check out the description of cornering ligths here. I think both the corner lights in the main head light units and fog lights would turn on when making turns. The salesman who sold me the GLK thought the corner lights are the fog lights only, and when I got my GLK last week, he showed me by turing the steering wheel to the left, the left fog lamp did turn on, and I saw it for sure. However, it's very weird when I tested it at my garage by turing the steering wheels left and right many times, the fog lights didn't turn on, only the corner lights turned on. It's very confusing. I guess that only under certain conditons ( like vehcile speed, outside light ambient...etc), the fog light would come on when making turns. One time at night, when I made a right turn signal, I also saw the right fog light came on. The corner lights will turn on all the time when you use the indicator stalk or turning the steering wheel. I think the fog light turn on or not is dependent on the lighting computer module. Please reply when you figure this out.

Interesting...will check it out. Maybe fogs have to be on or something? I def. read that fogs serve as corner lights, but then when I got my GLK realized it wasn't true. From what you saying I guess it partially was.
