last week, while I'm driving on the freeway, a flying big cardboard hit my car and damaged the grille. I bought a new grille and trying to replace it but I just couldn't take the old one out. Can someone teach me how? Some people said I have to take off the bumper...which I don't wanted to, can I just take off the chrome part instead? Thanks

Ouch, why do they still do things like that. Part of mdern engineering design concept is easy, low cost assembly and minimal contiguous damage.
You must take of bumper to replace grill?? Why? No benefit, just lack of refinement.![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
Disappointing.

That sucks! Sorry to hear your ride got damaged. Companies make things difficult for consumers to fix so they will have to come back to get it fixed...more income for them.

some cardboard
holly molly... a simple cardboard can do that much damage?
sorry to hear about your grille.
a suggestion...you may want to talk to the service guy at MB to assist. Usually they are helpful if you had bought the part from them directly...![Stick Out Tongue](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Or, you can go to the bodyshop and drop off some krispy kreme to give you some hints. Food and Booze is a friends' best mate
My 2 cents...

They did it for accouple of reasons. Before 07 numerous models had grills that popped in from the front but the first issue was theft.. I saw problably 3-4 grills a week get stolen.
also if you hit a pot hole or a bump that was hard enough to jar it loose it could fall out.
wrty. labor on front bumper removal is like 1.2 so a dealer might charge max 150-200
at my dealer we do it for 1hr labor
