Painting the grille black (gloss vs matte)
I'm probably gonna paint my front grille
let me know what you guys think
I will either paint everything black
or leave the MB sign silver
here's some pics on other benzo's
So far I got one forum member who said to go for it
Here is my blk GLK again

Just in case you do want it painted...remember to prime the whole grille. But B4 that you'll need to sand it down a little to let the primer stick. After primer, a little bit of wet sanding, and then paint. Matt will be easier to keep clean since there is no reflection of dirt to show up.
....again my 2 cents...

If you do paint it, def. all gloss to match the paint of the car. I'd paint star as well; it would make paint job easier.
How about head/rear light tinted covers then as well?

My main objection to this is that it really emphasizes the pentagon shape to the grill. Every Japanese car rolling down the road in the last 10 years has this shape, and it seems pretty common. Example:
I like the look, and could go either way on my own car. Just something to consider.
The stock grill has kind of a wing-like look that I dig. I would probably not do mine, at least right away. Maybe change it up later on.

Another thought... The M-class basic models had a black grille with chrome accents for the first couple of years, and then went to an all-black grille with silver emblem. The ones with the V8 and/or certain option packages had one that had most of the parts in a silver color with chrome accents.
You could follow that line of MB thinking and paint it silver to denote a higher end car.
Some pics:
Base ML-350, circa 2006:
Later ML-350:
ML-500 and ML-550, and possibly those with certain option packages:

Personally, i prefer the factory look. Especially on an MB, the only thing I'd mess with are the rims (and that's only if they weren't AMGs to begin with). But, if you're gonna do it, go all black in high gloss.

i went down to Renntech the other day and they said they can do so much t the car as shown by their award winning GLK, but the only reason their grille looks good in matte black is because they have matte black on other parts of the car as well, so thats my opinion but its still up to you
