question about pricing

i ordered a GLK 350 for $300 under invoive..to what i want..i told the saleman i was not paying any document fees or any other fees at the time of ordering..nothing more said...then i get a buyers order and there is 400 IRG participation and 199 document fees...i ask him about these and he sayd he did not know of these because they had to wait on car to be built and the $400 is built into invoice price...which is total bs because it is the same for every benz in regioin and he knows what his document fees are..so i had put $3000 down..i told him i was not paying these..so he will have to lower the price..and he says my deposit is non refundable...grr...i have not signed any paperwork...or anything and put money down on my discover card so i guess i will be calling them.
any ideas....suggestions....or am i way off base?

Wade

as my dealer said welcome to MB where everything is overpriced and there are ton of fees.

300 under invoice is a great price even if you have to pay the fees, so I would save the aggravation and pay the fees. Your salesguy is gonna be you advisor in the future when you have to bring the car in for service etc. (at least that's how it work at my dealer). So I would wanna have a decent relationship to get good rental cars, good service etc. in the futuer. You are buying a luxury car, if you wanna save money there are plenty of other cars that will save you thousands. I had to pay luxury tax, tire tax besides doc fees. Don't ruin your buying experience over a few fees, it's only money we are talking about.

I know it sux when they play these games but all dealers are like this, some better than others. My Benz dealer was the best out all of the others. The guy was pretty upfront with everything from day one and I still found some fees not mentioned. Infiniti dealer tried selling me 9% 72 month financing, I walked out laughing. One BMW dealer was terrible to the point where I walked out after the test drive was over.

Anyways, don't let the little things to ruin the experience, you are getting a really nice deal. If it really bothers you just take the deposit and find another dealer. Deposits are never non-refundable. The thing is another dealer will have the same fees.

he ended up waiving the $400...so i still have to pay the $199 document fee...grr...the car is there and waiting on me maybe i will just make him wait....so they have to hold the car...still frustrated about it...i know its only 199 but its the principal...he knew the fees and was not up front with me...

Future GLK350
Actually he should have waived the 199 fee as the IRG fee is a true cost to him and is charged on each car at his dealership. Yes he should have known about it and he should have clarified it with you at the time you agreed on 300 under invoice...because 'his' invoice is not the same as the 'retail invoice' that you see online.
Now that he has waived the 400, you should run and go get your car as he had just given you another 400 discount.
Too bad I don't have dealers like these (willing to deal) here in Houston Texas.

I have to agree with Asiandude on this one. If he is now willing to drop the IRG fee, then go get the car now. I guess regions have different IRG fee's, which like said above are added to each car regardless. This is how MB is able to do all the advertising they have been doing lately.

Cool

My 2 cents...

You're crying on 199 ...okay...it's the principle.

How about asking for a full tank of gas (which will amount to 50 - 60 buxs)
and overall, it won't feel bad. If you still want to "prove your point", skip the gas and ask for accessories at 15% off or so.

Good Luck!

50-60 bux for tank of gas? Is that Canadian $. Just paid 35 on memorial day weekend when is up, I do live in a state with cheapest gas tho (and I don't have to pump it either :-) ).

BTW you get full tank anyways, at least I did.

..yup...that's Canadian...on the west coast its about $1.05/litre.
However, I do fill up at the border (USA) since it is only a 1/2 hr drive.
