Seems like the GLK does not come with any mud guard/mud flap? Is it neccessary to get this option?

My GLK has been installed with OEM mud guards(front and rear, both)


My place has really a lot snow in winter season.
That's why I installed them on mine.

Front mud guard set is OK (Looks good)
But Rear set is really ugly..too big and long..

I really regret installing them on my car.

I just ordered the mud guards and they are being installed on July 22nd. I have a white car and was getting muddy spash stains on the car from all the rain we get here in Florida. I will let you know if this solves the problem. I figure it can't make it worse.

I just picked up my pristine white GLK on Friday and when it rained heavily on Saturday I had splatter on the sides like I went offroading. I've seen the flaps in the catalog but thought they looked pretty monolithic - perhaps you guys can post some pics when you get a chance.

yea it all depends where you drive and how often you wash your car. I think the wheels stick out quite a bit to spray dirt on the car. I will get a set for winter if I go with winter rim/tire set and take the mud guards off for summers when changing wheels.

IMO they do ruin the look quite a bit, I wish they could be painted to the same color as the body. But if I go for winter 17's then the car will have more of off-road look and the guards should not be such an eyesore.

Pics would be nice, I think I saw someone has it on the road, and think it doesn't look good.

Just worry if not install mud guard, it may get rust quickly, especially the front mud guards.

All..yes ALL MB's could benefit from mudguards...the problem being they haven't hired anyone to design any that look remotely nice on a vehicle. Sorry to the posters above that already have them, but they all look like someone at MB went down to Autozone and got some of those trim as you go mudflaps and installed them. Sad really, because Honda can make a set that form perfectly to the cars body lines and look seamless, but the Germans can't seem to get it right, not to mention the awful price of them.

I was having an impression it looks pretty ugly when I saw one on the street.

The fronts integrate nicer into the bodywork than the rears.

There's one angle of view of the rears that looks bit goofy, (it's the way the inner contour of the flap works down underneath on the inner side of the flap) but in reality, you have to be bending down, leaning over to try to see it.

Definitely not a glamour upgrade to the vehicle, however, we found that they hide pretty well when you are upright walking around. From most angles the rears blend into the rear tires - black on black.

They help (somewhat) with keeping sides clean.

The price(Cdn$) : 180(4ea in 1set) + tax and $150 Installation fee.
But I got them with $90 +tax for both and no charge for installation because this was in "Deal" when I bought my car.

I will post some pictures for front and rear mud guards installed on Black GLK.

If you want to install them your car then I just recommend you "Just install front parts not rear ones.

That's what I heard too, since you can't turn the rear wheels to get better access. But you can just take them off.

I paid $124.00 (US) for the front and rear and $65.00 per axle($130) for installation from my dealer.

I just had both sets installed Monday. I was getting a lot of road grime, especially with rain. Paid $104 for the flaps and $150 to install. Kind of pricey, but I didn't skin my knuckles.

Just got a set of MG... If you were to look under the rear bumper just behind each tire above the muffler, there's a huge cavity that will literally fill up with salt and debris this winter.

Here in the DC area, they treat the roads with tons of salt even when there's only an inch of snow.... overkill for sure... but nasty for cars as salt spray acts like a sand blaster on your paint. So the guards will go on for the winter, off during late spring/summer and early fall... because they're soooo ugly looking... a necessary evil.

A couple thoughts about our dealer-installed mud guards...they were bigger than I anticipated and don't blend in particularly well with the lines of the SUV. OTOH, they are quite effective, no rock chips and they block absolutely all rain overspray on wet roads.

But because of their (large) size, it remains to be seen how well they work when the snow starts flying. I'm expecting they'll collect prodigious amounts of wet/slushy snow because of the rather prominent lip on the wheel-side of the flaps. I hope the guards are well anchored because there will be a fair amount of extra weight when packed with wet snow.

You have to pay attention for the front mud guards because there are two types : without or with alu running boards, these are completely different. I mounted them myself, but at the rear you have to take off the wheels. They protect a lot when it is raining. There is only a big disadvantage: when you touch someting with the mud guard they do not fold .

I had mud guards/flaps mounted on my GLK about a week ago. I think they look just OK, but hope they help keep slush/snow off the sides of the car. By the way, paid about 40 euros per set.

Here you go ! I agree the Rear piece is too long but it is very helpful during rainy season to drivers at your rear. Also keep away muds splash onto your rear part of the car body.

Also just a reminder that the Front Mud Flap has different Item Number if your have Side Running Board or without.
