you can put it on the board. 22x9, with a 40 offset, and goodyear eagle gt 265/35/22 ,DO NOT FIT!!! they clear the strut, but touch the inner wheel well when full turned both left and right. next we'll toyo proxes, 255/35/22. hopefully going a narrower tire will give me the clearence i need. if those still touch then i'm f**ked!!! i'll be hitting up the s-class forum and trying to sell them there. my rims came off a s550.

Sorry to hear that, keep in mind that even if it clears on stationary car it might rub in turns and when car is loaded.
You can try spacers since your goal is to move wheels a bit outwards. Many people put them when offset is not right, and in your case it'd would work since you need to increase positive offset. I'd check offset of 22's that brabus sells and whatever the difference between theirs and yours is the how thick the spacers should be.
I hope it all will work out.

yeah, i thought about that, but then i'm pushing the wheel farther out and risk sticking out the fender. with the 265's the tire stuck out of the fenders a very little bit. i don't want to look like a lowrider or a real offroad truck.

My sympathies. This is always a pain when breaking new ground on this sort of sizing.
How do the tires look towards the fender lip, i.e- the outside of the tire? If they are hitting inside, then can you go to a a wheel with less backspace?
The spacers as suggested might help and should be pretty cheap, but you will want to check and see if you then need longer studs since you want a lot of thread engaged on those, and spacers will give you less with the stock studs.
Make absolutely certain the spacers are hub-centric and that they have an outer hub lip that matches the stock wheel hub recess machined into the wheel. This means that the wheel will center itself on the hub in stock form, and will continue to do so when the spacers are added.
If you do not to this, the wheel may end up not being centered and will have wobble even if the studs are tight.
Do not get generic spacers. Buy from a company such as Tire Rack, Discount Tire, or others that know what this means and can supply the correct types of spacers.

Sorry to have the the troubles. I appreciate you posting, since whenever I do go the route for getting rims threads like this will be helpful. Thanks for posting, and best of luck.

due to the 40 offset, spacers would push the wheels out farther and i don't want that. sure they may prevent the tires from touching the wheel wells, but it'll look like crap! i bought my rims used and knew the offset might be an issue, but if the 255/35/22's don't work, i'll just sell the rims. the rims came off of a s550, which has bigger wheel wells, so worst case i'll offer them to s550, ml, and gl owner for cheap.
