Universal Media Interface Question

I had the UMI option added at the port back in April. Although I don't use my Navigation that much, there is a link on it called TMC. When I open it I get a list of traffic conditions on the roads near me in South Florida. Is this the Sirius realtime traffic? Should I assume that it will automatically route me around traffic if I am using the Nav system? Thanks, Frank

IDK since I have no UMI option. But was surprised to find out Sirisu radio was already activated. Thought I had to call to activate.

The UMI traffic is a free service from Mercedes. It has updated traffice and will reroute you. It has nothing to do with Sirius. Frank

Its for non-navi models that give updates on traffic jams etc. But a good find though...

"And, if you're still not sold, there's one final element of the GLK Universal Media Interface I've yet to mention: when used with the non-navigation Audio 20 system, the GLK UMI adds a retrofitted navigation function to your existing setup. "

Wait a sec--you can equip a car with both the regular nav and UMI? Why pay for UMI if you're also paying for nav?

UMI is used for more things than just the nav eh... ipod connectivity, etc...

I have both, I attached an hard drive to UMI with tons of songs and movies and that stays with the car at all time. COMMAND is for the rest like, Navi, Radio, Phone etc..

So what does that actually mean(quote from F18Ben's link)? Does this mean I have the capability to warn of "upcoming traffic jams" and suitable route detour information?
