vibration in the gear shift knob when shifting up?

Hi All,

I picked up my GLK last Monday and have noticed when driving and shifting up, if I have my hand on the gear shift knob, there is a noticeable vibration when it is shifting up. It is most noticeable from 1st to 2nd and 3rd.

Any other GLK drivers notice this, or if not, what are your thoughts?

Other than that... I have to say I'm lovin the new ride!!!

Cheers

I keep my right hand on the stick all the time, just to feel the vibration from the engine. GLK is so quiet that the knob is the only thing you can feel the engine from inside. I don't remember there is significant difference between the gears, in terms of level of vibration though.

If you were also feeling something through the steering wheel, I'd probably think about asking the dealer to rebalance the wheels followed by a look at the motor mounts if that didn't do the trick and then the control arm bushings next.

But since you're only feeling a slight vibration through the shifter, I probably wouldn't be concerned unless it worsens. If it does, they'll probably start by taking a look at the shifter vibration isolation mount (elastomer grommets) to ensure they were installed properly.

silky smooth here (at least to my standard), and I do keep my hand on the shifter often and even use manual mode once in a while (miss stick).
