What did your GLK replace?

I didn't think this question up; rather, stole the idea from someone on the E-Class (W211) sub-forum where it has generated three pages of responses.

But I thought it might be interesting to see what M-B's entry-level SUV owners were driving before purchasing one.

In my case, we had a Volvo XC90 which was just too big for our weekend treks south to the ski country. Burned a lot of gas, was hard to find parking spots large enough in the vicinity of our favorite slopes and an inbound military family with children wanted to buy it at a fair price. Plus, my wife absolutely fell in love with the GLK at first look.

This is our first Benz...we've historically driven Porsches although I had a Corvette for my first car out of the Air Force Academy.

was originally going to trade in my brother's B200 as well and consolidate our cars into the one GLK but last minute he traded in his B200 for an SLK350 instead, so we're back with 2 cars.

GLS550
2004 Lexus LS430. It sat in the garage most of 2 years as I ride a motorcycle most of the time. It was really tuff in the snow with the rear wheel drive. The GLK went to the wife and I got her 03 Lexus GX470 for my winter driving.

coopdogg, how do you like the move from the C300? Similar in a way, different, anything you'd expected it to be?

I'm thinking the same thing. My sister-in-law has one in that mother-of-pearl color and it looks good. It has the Toyota quality I'm used to and there haven't been any problems so far...other than the hail storm we got a few weeks ago.

Nissan Murano
1997 Honda CRV. This Honda is so awesome, it absolutely owe me nothing for 12 years, this car run so perfect, beside wear and tear items, all it needs are gas and oil change, never a single problem, that's why it took me so long to replace it, I really miss it. Almost want to trade in my much newer Nissan Murano instead.

I am a first time MB owner, if the GLK is half as reliable as my 97 CRV. I'll be very happy.
