Just the turn signals/flashers are led's, and the taillight housings around the side have fake led's that do not operate... rip-off.... even Nissan has better LED taillights.

Hey Clay.... who said anything about the brake lights? Can't you READ?
By the way, the brake lights ARE "normal" bulbs... Look... tail lights have a lot more in them these days than just brake lights... these GLK tail lights with the optional lighting pkg. have night time running lights (bulbs), brake lights (bulbs), rear fog lights (bulbs), turn signals/emergency flashers (LED's), and side markers (bulbs)... simple.
PS The 3rd brake light inside the tailgate and up by the spoiler is also LED.

We posted back in February or March that the the entire tail lamp assembly wasn't LED and I wasn't happy with that since I paid for the lighting package.
I can't stand the obnoxious brightness of Cadillac LED's and I'm glad MB didn't follow them down that road. But, if MB would regulate the LED's to perform more like incandescents(not instantly bright and not obnoxiously bright), they would have a winner. I believe no to very little mantenance over the life of the vehicle.

Well... I see your point but isn't that the whole idea of brake lights?.. To get the attention of the driver(s) behind you, and if that means quicker & brighter, then I'm ALL for it! Who cares if it's "obnoxious"... that's the idea... to be IN YOUR FACE so you can react and STOP... or slow down... right NOW.
It's the right attitude. Remember, it's not only proven to have prevented rear end accidents, these "obnoxious" lights also save lives. They're NOT a fashion statement.
I wish our GLK had them just like our GT-R!

I meant to explain myself a little more in depth, i am not a fan of the way mb constructed the turnsignals with the LEDs, and not all of them work...then the fact that the are not all LED for brake, turn, backup etc....kinds pisses me off...i much prefer the look (not performance) of the standard issue brake light.... are far as the turn signal goes...My lexus LS460 i just sold, had awesome brake lights...so i was kind of spoiled..

Just curious how are these are lighting up as "amber/orange" whereas it really lights up as 'red'.
Wish I could modify to have the 'amber/orange' for the turn signal as pictured.
btw...where did this manual come from? it's nice in col or.

The european and asian lights flash amber, not red. Red turn signals are illegal in those regions because they look too similar to the red of brake lamps. I have no idea why the heck we don't adopt the same standards.

Today it seems that the latest fashion is no amber at the rear. Some owners of European cars in the US even place red film over the rear amber lens to hide the color.
For those without the lighting package;
Are the rear turn signal bulbs red behind the clear lens? If so, I'd expect one could simply swap them out for amber bulbs.
Another question, does the GLK have a rear fog light?

Veerodder, keep your opinion that this discussion is heated to yourself! Just kidding of course. Opinion and information transfer is what this and most other forums are all about.
MBRedux, I'm sure there are drivers out there whose sight and/or attention is so bad that the extra brightness of the Caddy's obnoxiously bright LED brake lamps may help in catching their attention in time to avoid a collision. Of course, inclement weather is also another factor. But that said, they are still too bright for my taste. If I liked the Caddy model enough, the brake lamp issue wouldn't keep me from purchasing it. Just my druther.

I'm biased since I have LEDs, I think they look more modern and up to date.
Yes there there is a rear fog light in the left taillight.
