Broken Antenna Shark Fin

My Garage door ripped off the shark fin looking antenna (maybe sirius radio antenna) on the top of my GLK350. It only broke the plastic shell. I called MB and they have to replace the whole antenna and the part is $450 bucks (not including service). Anyone know if they only sell the shell somewhere? Can I get the part much cheaper?

I hate to say but you might have to dish out the money to fix it. Nowadays the shark fin antenna contains many functions (sirius, radio, GPS, etc) so if it is broken something else inside might be broken too and might affect functions that depend on radio signal

dedewhale, sorry for the mishap...

if you are able to take a pix of your antenna, I will pass to an MB dealer for assistance. Where are you located?

I am in NJ. I will see if I can take a pic. But I already super glued the old broken piece back on. It does not look good but it is on there.

This is your best answer if you're handy.... and it's a genuine OEM part for Audi... it will fit.

wow...MBRedux

looks like the headliner needs to come off, and it must be screwed down from inside to hold the antenna in place. This may take some great skill and time to do.

Sorry to hear about the mishap, let us know which direction you took. Try a different dealer, since dealer pricing varies.

Good News...

dedewhale,

okay...dealer got back to me and stated that the black housing is available for 60 buxs. Shipping extra.

That's not bad for a small mis-hap. At least you can skip a few lattes for 2 weeks?

Your thoughts?
