Parking garage problem...
#2
wow, that's horrible, is this in your own complex or some public garage..? not sure if its helps but maybe they have a security camera or something. Hope things work out for you but it almost looks from the pic that you weren't parked straight in the spot.

This was in a public garage. They hit us so hard they knocked the car over and the front into a concrete pillar. They did leave a note and Geico so far has been ok.

The car depreciated the second you drove it off the lot....Your value won't be diminished because of the accident. Have it repaired only at Mercedes. Since they were at fault , you have control where it gets repaired. This way all the parts are genuine Mercedes. Also after all is repaired make sure you get them to pay for an alignment.

I've got Geico (20 years) and they should send you a decent check for diminished value (DV). I've had a couple of claims (comp with a deer and smacked when a co-worker backed into me) and got a decent DV check. Let us know how Geico settles up with you? Make sure you get all OEM parts listed on the adjuster claim report.

Make sure you specifically ask your dealer (body repair) to use German Sikkens paint (original OEM) and apply the new Sikkens Nano-Clearcoat when repainting your GLK. These paints were designed by MB for your GLK. Most shops (even dealers) use cheaper brands, like Dupont.... junk.
Dealers shops are not required to use thes high cost paints even though they are a certified MB dealer. If they say "sure, don't worry about it!"... don't believe it... get it in writting on the repair contract.
Good luck.

Our GLK is currently in the shop for minor hail damage and even that light damage breaks our hearts. I don't know what we'd do if we came out and to see damage like that. Normally, parking lot damage is very minor and your damage looks like some serious speed related damage. Oh, the other thing that others have posted is that MB uses very expensive paint from the factory but I hear you won't get that when it is repaired due to the cost.

Thank you all for your advice and sympathy. We have a great body shop in Austin that I have used before and trust them but will follow your suggestions. So far Geico has been good to deal with.

We got the call that it was ready but we told them to take it down the street to MB for its first service. We will pick up tomorrow and hopefully, it will be completely damage free.
