Summer Prep

Now that summer is around the corner, what is everyone planning to do to their GLKs?

I will be:

Put on the summer tires
Full inside/outside detailing
Tint on front side windows

Can anyone recommend me a good (easy to use) car polisher for after washing the car? Thanks.

Hi wired,

Really? September? I though the wait was at most 3 months!

Putting Rejex on the wheels, lower panel, and front bumper. I already have the tint job on the 2 side windows and windshield. The P-Roof is fantastic when its wide open and releasing all that heat. I've also noticed my mpg's have gone up since it got above 65 during the day. I'm achieving 24-24.5 mpg on country roads with a few stop signs and lights. It must either be broken in or less warm up time. I'm waiting on some new car mats from Lloyds to make her summer ready.

I was planning on tinting the front windows as well. I was also going to switch out the halogen dome lamps to a 5k LED alternative. I really like the 5k lamps on the rear view mirror.

Some LEDs perhaps here, and xpel on headlights.

I use NuFinish once a year wax (it's not really wax). I'm pretty happy with it. It makes surfice feel very similar to how it was when car was delivered to me. And water afer rain just drips down and doesn't leave any marks.

similar stuff going on here...

- took the winter set off yesterday and put the 20s back on
- int/ext detailing
- tint

i'm looking for recommendations on leather cleaner. i read through some of the other forums specific to detailing your car, but a lot of the recommendations were for older style leather. i understand the leather in the GLK has some sort of protective layer over it. anyone know of some good stuff i can pick up at a local detailing shop? nothing too complicated to apply or to get.

happy spring driving! it's such a joy in the GLK.

I had a 3 hour drive to meet a client this morning... It didn't feel like working, it felt more like a vacation. I'm finding I love my GLK more and more everyday!

If you have a dark color car keep under the shade or park inside garage. Ultra violet will harm the exterior/interior of your car

I just put my second coat of Rejex on the front portion of the truck (hood, bumper, front side panels) today and can't get over how this stuff keeps a perfect clean finish that constantly beads up when wet.

You should be able to get it online from Amazon. I got mine from the pilot store in AZ but see Amazin is selling it for a reasonable price.

veerodder, I finally got my piece of *special mod*. I will take some pixs in the day and when it is a bit cooler. Temps have been in the 30's (celsius) and thats's hot. I know you've been anxious, but when you see the pixs, I am sure my delay will speak for it self...

I was hoping to get this out a few weeks ago....
Can you give me another week?

I've used Nufinish on all my cars and I think like you do. Nice space age product that protects the paint. But I also think owners of MB's cars have an advantage with the ceramic micro chips in the paint. Microscopically small ceramic particles provide a layer of protection. Remarkable advances in the area of nano-technology have allowed tiny ceramic particles - each less than a millionth of a millimetre in size - to be integrated into the molecular structure of the binding agent. These particles float around freely at first in the liquid clearcoat, before cross-linking as the drying process takes effect. The particles link in with one another in such a way as to create an extremely dense and smoothly structured network at the paint surface. This provides a protective layer and ensures that the new nano-particle clearcoat is considerably more scratch-resistant than conventional paintwork.

The effectiveness of the new technology was borne out by the results of an extreme test conducted in a laboratory car-wash according to DIN standards. The water used in the test contains a precisely measured concentration of fine particles and is spread over the paintwork by the rotating washing brushes, leaving behind scratches. After ten wash cycles in the laboratory car-wash, reproducing the degenerative effect of some 50 to 100 regular car washes - the nano-painted sheet metal emerged with around 40-percent greater gloss than samples with conventional clear lacquer. Mercedes-Benz is the world's first vehicle manufacturer to offer this more scratch-resistant clear lacquer.
