2011 iPod/MP3 Media Interface Question

I've been stalking the forum for a while to get information, but I finally ordered my GLK on Friday!

I have a question, though. For the 2010 GLK, the iPod/MP3 Media Interface Package is separate from the Multimedia Package. When I ordered the 2011, though, it looks like the iPod/MP3 Media Interface is included in the Multimedia Package. I know a lot of people haven't ordered 2011's yet, but has anyone else noticed this? Being able to control my iPod from the center controller and display while charging it is one of the biggest things I want. I'm going to call my salesman and ask to be sure, but I would feel better if someone else could confirm this.

And since people seem to always ask for details, here's what I ordered if you're interested:
Capri Blue
Grey/Black Leather
Burl Walnut Wood
Rear Wheel Drive
Premium 1 Package
Lighting Package
Multimedia Package
Keyless Go
Chrome Door Handle Inserts

And it's supposed to get here in August!

The premium 1 package should have everything you need. However..... Make sure you get the new cable that goes in the glove box. Apple changed the pins in the iphone and newer ipods. The old cable will work, but it will not charge the iphone or ipod.

Make sure the cable number is A0018278404. This is the newer cable that has the correct pin configuration.

I find it hard to believe the Mercedes ipod interface, cord in glove box can not speed up or pause ipod....I have a Kenwood stereo installed in my Smart car that allows much
more control of my ipod then the Mecedes control interface can....am I missing some
information on how to have more control of the ipod in the Mercedes? By the way,
thanks to the members for all the information I've learned on the Forum on my beloved

I have a 32Gb USB key plugged into the USB interface that contains all my music. It plays fine.

I just couldn't see plugging the iPhone in and out everytime I got in and out of the car.

You don't. There is no correlation between iPod and USB.

USB connector??

I just got off the phone with the parts department, they are ordering me an adapter that will attach to the ipod connector so that you can hook a usb drive to it.

My car came with iPod /Aux cable. I bought seperately a USB cable. So, one or the other. Not sure what they have available now.

Is there any way to get the video files on a iPod to play through the interface if you have the MultiMedia package?
It seems that the W212 models have that offered as an option and the hardware parts seem the same.

Ipod Mini 2nd Gen - plays and charges
Ipod Nano 3rd Gen - plays and charges
iPod Nano 5th Gen - plays, but does not charge
iPhone 3GS - plays and charges

4th and newer Nano have an issue with this cable.
iPhone 3GS displays a message that device is not compatible but charges and plays.

It comes in a Connecting Cable package A0018278204 along with USB and AUX cable.

BTW...PCMCIA Multi Card Reader B67823974 works like a charm!!!

Any one running iphone 4 with OS 4.2 or above getting Device not compatible message on the COMAND unit?

I've just updated my iphone 3G to iOS 4.2 and it no longer works with my 2010 GLK. It used to display "error message" on the iphone and it wont' charge it but ipod function still works.

Anyone having this issue?

I have a standard audio system in my C63 with the iPod kit. It doesnt' charge the phone (3G). Does this cable simply replace the exisiting cable or is it a new interface?

I'm a bit confused - so bear with me here:

I have an iPod Nano 2nd gen & my wife has a 4th gen Nano - & both are connected to the black cable in the GLK glovebox at different times dependent on who's driving. We are able to operate the COMAND & iPod interface fine on both.

However, the iPod displays "Charging is not supported with this accessory". That message is preceded by the Black MB logo.

Are our iPods being charged?
We have had the car for about a month but haven't really notice any performance drop outs.

The mssg is a bit bothersome & am not sure if I need a newer cable or what?

Just take a look on your ipod's display, if you see the battery icon with a thunderbolt on it, then it's charging. Otherwise it's not.
