Does this new Jeep look familiar?
I was reading about the new Jeep Grand Cherokee tonight and noticed on this page it say's "the platform was co-developed with Mercedes".
Then I knew why it looked similar to a GLK. It looks like a GLK! Even the interior has alot of similarties. Check out the interior pics.
There are other distinct similarities it seems were shared, like the "Keyless go" which they referred to. The "Panoramic Roof" though I can't tell if the front opens or not.
I think it looks good. It also has some other features I would have assumed the GLK should have come with. Like ventilated seats. Heated rear seats.
Here is a link for you guys...

Just an FYI I guess.

Mass confusion here.........the new JGC is based on the current ML platform, not the GLK. It has nothing to do with the GLK. The GLK is a C-Class based product.

When I was in the market for my current SUV I considered the ML but thought it to be too dated and wanted to wait for the 2012 model. Was told that is would be shared with the Grand Cherokee and the Dodge Durango and this put me off a bit. I understand the concept of platform sharing but still....a Dodge.

Yes, this was one of the deals that was left on the table after they split. Jeep technically isn't using any MB parts, they are just using MB's specifications. I'm sure Benz had a lot to do with the testing in the initial stages though.

On my last vacation, I rented a Jeep Liberty, which had to go back because the airbag light came on. I exchanged it for a Dodge Nitro, also a Jeep-type product. In both cars, I thought the build quality, the handling and general layout were shameful. They both felt like pieces of crap, and that's compared to my Civic, much less to my (then) X3 and now GLK. It's amazing to me that people buy these things.
