The Homelink system (part of the P1 package) is located under the review mirror. Its three rubber buttons. Its quite rare not to have the P1 package.

well supposedly you can purchase a mirror with the homelink and just install it. I think someone tried that before. You might want to do a search and see.

let us know what you end up doing. I wouldn't mind doing that myself but just don't have time at the moment to try.

You can add the mirror. The power harnesses are in the console already. But you must take it to the dealer because they must flash the computer telling it it is installed. Otherwise it will dim all the time. It is not supposed to dim when in reverse, or when the overhead lights are turned on.

$600 for the mirror..$200 for the homelink from MB service department. Better off using the garage door opener that came with your garage door. Maybe you can get lucky and find one at a junk yard or on ebay.

Don't worry there are plenty of non-P1 cars out there.

But back on topic, I would just use a garage door opener. It's probably not really worth the hassle to install the homelink mirror unless you really hate having a garage door opener on your sun visor.

Take a look at the Gentex Mirrors. Can get them with Homelink, auto dim, compas and a combo of the three. Go on Ebay and search for Gentex Mirrors, much cheaper than the MB ones.
