DO NOT DO THE NAV + 4 UPGRADE!!!!!
There is a software problem that Mercedes is working on. You will lose your realtime traffic updates until they resolve the issue. I had numerous posts relating to the problem 2 months age. I've been in touch with MB and a fix will be coming out shortly.

I know that the paid subscription updates are provided by Sirius but the "free traffic info" on my BMW and portable GPS systems is received through a sub-carrier on a regular local FM broadcast band frequency. When the BMW travels down the highway it is actively searching for stations sending the traffic info out and where I live there are at least three local stations it gets the info from.
Here in California the traffic information is available free as a public service from the state department of transportation (Caltrans) but it is not in a format the nav systems can use. As a result of that, the only way you can get the information to your nav gear is to get it from a third party source. Sirius charges for the service but the system on my BMW and older 2007 Navigon system use the data from free source.
