Cargo - Space for dogs?

I am researching buying the GLK and wondering how much cargo space there is... I've seen photos and read that it is 23 cubit feet but what I need to know is: How deep and wide is it? I want to fit 2 medium dog crates in the back.

I have a large Boxer female (70lbs), and she does just fine with plenty of room. I did get a WeatherTech cargo liner and I throw some towels back there for her...

Edit ::: Oh crates? I don't know... somewhere around here is the exact dimensions... my guess is no...

Look at this:

Sorry, try this thread and look further down for link to the German site that shows cargo are dimensions.

I'm guessing "Seite nicht gefunden" means 404 - dead link in English...

It's in German but the cargo area is shown in CM.

I have a female boxer as well (only 55 lbs) but she insists on riding in the back seat.

Kinda negates the whole SUV for a dog thing since any back seat will do, but that's the way it goes...

I have a pitbull and there is plenty of room for him, but there's no way in hell it will fill two crates, it fits one just fine though...you could probably fit two if you fold the rear seats down, though...also, i took out the cargo area rolling cover thing just because i knew i would rarely use it, it made the necessary room for the crate, and i didn't want it to become a chew toy

Hey, it worked!

Here's a better one.

GLK dimensions

Checkout the link below and see pages 43 & 92 it shows the different types of dimensions, you'll have to convert the measurements cause they are Metric.

If you have a medium or large dog and plan on using a kennel in the back with seats up it won't fit. Ours does not fit we have a chocolate lab about 75 pounds. Hope this helps you.

For those with labs (ours is tall and about 80 lbs.) is there enough room in the cargo area without a crate? Also, anybody know if the cargo floor is lower than the ML? Mine is not a jumper and we have a step on the back of the ML for her. I always forget to check when I drive one as a loaner from the dealer. Thanks. Great dogs, too.

my lab is about the same in terms of 'specs'. he has no problem fitting in the back (without a crate)... if we're going for a longer drive i knock down the back seats so that he can lie down. otherwise, he has to sit with the seats up....there's room for him to lie down too but then he can't see out the window. he's also not a jumper, but i find it low enough for me to be able to help him up....front paws up first.. then he pulls himself up and i help with the hind legs.

I've got an 80ib male English Sheepdog and an 8ib West Highland Terrier. They can't complain while riding in the cargo area.

Is there a cover for the rear cargo area, along with covering the back seats when they are folded down? I have a new GLK 350, and I have a 95lb German Shepherd...

For those of you who want to place pictures in your post there are 2 ways to do it. Most of you attach photos with the paper clip as shown in the bar above the message reply window. Those pix show up as thumbnails which are sometimes hard to see. The second way is to upload your pix to a web site such as Image Shack. Once uploaded click on "My Images" then go to the pix (at Image Shack) right click and pick "View Image". When the pix shows up then one more time right click and choose "Copy Image URL" them come back to your message post and pick the yellow icon that looks like it has a mountain with the sun on it and use the Ctrl and the "V" keys to paste the URL into the dialog box that pops up. Do not erase the http:// that is highlighed in blue and your pix should look like this.

The same applies to any photo on any web site that you want to upload in your message. You can go to a web site like this one and right click on the photo and use Ctrl V to put a pix in like this.

I have a 70 lb golden lab who sits happily with a stroller and a few groceries on the back without a problem. just ake sure to protect the carpet as your dog's claws will chew-up the carpet.
