2013 Infiniti G37 Coupe; 2011 GLK 350 w/ Premium 1, Multimedia & Sport Appearance; I LOVE IT!
I suspect people who lease will not be so concerned about longevity...

I lease. Not concerned about longevity. It's the main reason I lease, to not be concerned about it. Already trying to figure out if I'll get the 2015 GLK or ML.

If the car knocks and pings, you need to go up a grade on gas. I also seen someone at the pump adding 101+ boost to their Benz. As for me I like the higher the better.

my glk is leased. i pump prem.

but i see your point. however i wonder in the case of an engine issue, would MB also check grade of fuel as part of their analysis to determine reason for failure

If premium gas is an issue or in question...there are many other cars out there that take regular...it's time to move on to one of those. Forgive me if it sounds pompous but why bother getting a Mercedes Benz if the type of gas is a concern...it is.. what it is..a car that requires premium gas for optimum peformance...the end

MB glk350 4matic 2010
Premium gas MIX

I've owned Porsche, BMW, Corvette and now MB.. all run best with Premium because they are set up by factory for widest possible class of use... but filling up at half tank with mid then next half with premium is suffieient for most all use except lead foot. Occassional use of additives help from time to time both the octane boost and cleaners type. Buying expensive cars doesn't mean you must be stupid rich yacht owners to disregard price of fuel! If your financial advisor states you should not worry about fuel expenses because you bought an upscale car, get another advisor.
