Yup, sorry... I didn't mean to put you on the spot. I thought I would just give a general warning to those out there that may not understand the concept. That said, I personally would rather run 89 R+M/2 if I had to (which is closer to 91RON anyways) than taking chances with an octane booster. Our ratings are generally lower than Europe's because ours is an average of two different rating methods... Ron+Mon/2

And I have to run 100LL (100 octane low lead) in my 80/87 rated aircraft engine. Come on sticky valves!

Once in a Blue Moon I have been caught where I could only buy 89 octane gas. In those cases I only buy an amount equal to the 91 left in the tank. A 50-50 mix. I then fill up with 91 or higher as soon as it is available. No harm. No foul.

Those onboard computers and sensors are pretty amazing.

In my old airplane, it's back to carburetors, manual mixtures control and EGT's (exhaust gas temperature) gauges. In other words, pilot load.
