Airbag computer failure
Just got our GLK back today after the airbag deployment computer or chip or whatever failed. Warning lights and an "Immediate Service Required" message.
Dealer recommended the GLK not be driven until fixed since it was a safety issue. Took the three days to get the part + 2½ hours to install. Dealer provided a free loaner and everything was covered under warranty.
24,000 miles and some change
By my count, that's the fifth warranty action since the GLK was purchased in Jul 2009:
1. Air-conditioner electronics module replaced
2. Tailgate started reversing direction before fully open, "adjustment"
3. Wiper blades chatter, inserts replaced (front)
4. Windshield washer motor replaced
5. Airbag computer replaced
Certainly not the most reliable vehicle I've owned by a long shot. OTOH, TrueDelta has better reliability stats so maybe ours was built on the day starting a three-day weekend.
