2011 GLK - 2500 miles - I hear it and then forget to post about it... I can drive the car for 10 minutes or 10 hours - I put the car in the garage, close the door, can come back to it in an hour or two (or 3), and I hear a faint fan noise that can be heard outside the car... why? The car is not hot, the garage is not hot... what's the purpose or point? Let me know if you've solved this Teutonic mystery...

yeah I get that too since day one. I believe its cooling down the engine or something in there.

I remember reading on the E class forum that this fan is the "command" system fan .... So if you have navi it might be what you're hearing. I don't have navi so no noise here..

Nope - no command navi - and would like something more than "it's a fan" - my question is why after the car has been off for hours and is cold... fan for what? where?

I thought I remembered reading about this fan being related to testing the vapor recovery system or something related to that canister?

Not sure though.

i hear the fan noises from my normal comand navi too
may or may not be the same fan i hear outside
maybe theres still a heat build up somewhere after hours...

I think I read about it in the Operator's Manual, and they mentioned its purpose. I can't remember right now... Check that out.
