Engine Oil level

Any of you know how to check engine oil level through instrument cluster on GLK?
I know there is dip stick, but just curious.

By the way... the owners manual is wrong for 2010. The oil capacity for the 3.5L V6 4-Matic is 7.5 US quarts, not 8.5.

Isn't the 2 wheel drive 8.5 quarts and the 4 wheel drive 7.5 quarts?

Yes!.. you're right, but the manual for 2010 does not differentiate between the two. In fact it says "All Models".... this is wrong just like the octane sticker inside the filler door.

I have an early 2010 and my manual on page 318 says "ALL MODELS" 8.5 US qt (8.01) which I assume is liters. That is Engine with oil filter. I have always used 8.5 qts and the dip stick reads just fine.

Well, you must not have a 4-Matic then.... ? Or something else is at play here, like not being *perfectly* level when checking the oil level.

GLK 3.5L Gas w/4-Matic Oil Capacity / filter = 7.5 US Quarts
GLK 3.5L Gas Oil Capacity / filter = 8.5 US Quarts

I do have a 4-Matic and 8.5 quarts brings it up to the top marker on the dip stick. Go figure?

Check with your dealer. The 2011's owners manual is correct, 7.5 quarts US for 4-Matic GLK's. They did not change the size of the sump.

BTW I have a 2010 not 11 and I don't bring it to MB for oil changes. For whatever reason 8.5 Qts. does the trick for mine.

That's what I mean, check with the dealer for an oil quantity update, not for them to do it. We change our own oil as well on our 2010 4-Matic and 8.5 US quarts with filter is way over the top on our dipstick! The 2011's have the same engine/tranny and their OM says 7.5 US quarts on 4-Matic...

It's very interesting you mentioned that. I was bored the other day and started to check all my service records from dealer. I realized every time they charge me 9 US quarts of oil, there did they put all that?!! I know one quart is like 6,7 bucks, but it's still a rip-off!!

Another thing to notice is most recent oil change they used penzoil, I'm assuming it's still the platinum european formula which is MB 229.5 approved. They better used that, I would be pissed if not.

When I bring our vehicles for an oil change to the dealership, as far as i know they have been using Mobil 1 oil. I never bothered checking though. But, as to my knowledge, that is what they have been using.
