Just got my new 2012 GLK 350 last week, noticed air vent thumbwheel did not light up.. Does air vent thumbwheel suppose to be illuminated?

Appreciate any info and help.

My 2011 isn't illuminated. I doubt they changed it for 2012.

Do you have some sort of interior premium package?

 

I have P1 and no illumination on a 2011 either.

 

All 5 (included the one in the back) air vent thumbwheels are lit on our MY 2010, 05/2009 build.

 

Must be European, because my 2010 does not illuminate. The ring around the light switch also does not light . This is also true on my wife's C class. The dealer thought the bulb was burned out but came back to say that none of them have a light behind the switch.

 

Did you turn the illumination dimmer fully clockwise for the verification?

 

Hmmm... I should try that tonight in my 2011 - I normally keep the lights low just so that I can see the lights low so there's no glare... we'll see...

It's got to be a European thing. Mine is an 10/2009 build and it does not have it even if I crank up the brightness. They don't even glow in the dark

No - and yes.

When one air vent thumbwheel is fully closed: Not illuminated. Very sophisticated design by MB, as the sun in a month and a half, is leaving us for two months here, far up in the north.

Illuminated: As soon as one thumbwheel is turned for the air vent to open, only that respective wheel will be "background" illuminated, and the number of white "dots" displayed denotes the magnitude of the air flow, as seen in daylight.
However, as said: Increasing the instrument cluster illumination above the level I normally use, is needed to see the air vent thumbwheel setting as well.

I certainly have seen the requirement for such an illumination upstate NY too, so I assumed this feature would be included in your deliveries as well, unless it just disappeared between build 05 - and 10/2009
