USB and COMAND?
I have a '10 GLK with the COMAND system. The manual shows* a USB cable in the glove box, but we only have 1 for an iPod and 1 for the Aux port.
After doing a bit of googling, I didn't find much other than one post that said something to the effect that MB decided at the last minute when they started shipping the GLKs that they were going to delete it for whatever reason. If that is the case, they didn't fix the manual in time.
So my questions are:
1. Did a USB port/cable get released later like for the '12 model year? Or as a retrofit kit?
2. If so, was this something the dealer installed for free since the manual seems to indicate it should have been there from the start?
3. Or if it is available but we have to pay for it, did anyone install it themselves, how hard was it, and do you have part numbers?
4. If not, has anyone tried an iPod ---> USB adapter, or would something like that work?
* = I checked this with the dealer, and got a squidgy response along the lines of, erm, yeah, let me check with the factory and I'll get back to you, and it has been at least a year since...
Thanks in advance!

I guess I can use that kind of money to buy a lot of memory cards for my GLK and still have the Ipod touch for my daughter to play games in the back seat.
1) Does it come with a iPod connector?
2) Is it in the glovebox or in the center console?

For 2010 it came with the USB cable and the iPod/Aux cable was an option
For 2011-12 it is advertised as "iPod/MP3 Interface" as to whether it comes with any cables, anyone who has a 2011 or 12 please chime in and let everyone know if you got any cables and if so which ones you got.

Would love to hear people's experience...hopefully before this Sat...as I am picking up mine & would like it addressed by the dealer if needed.

i got 3 cables usb, ipod and stereo
What is on the other end of the USB cable? My phones use USB-micro USB cables. The MP3 player cable is USB on one end and a wide narrow connection on the other end. Like this........
Can anyone describe the 3 cables?

no usb connection on the centre console. you need to have the multi media package to insert a special cable that has a input for usb which is located on the glove compartment. If you do not have the multimedia option you will only have the regular stereo jack on the right side of the glove compartment (inside). the three cables are for 1 ipod connection, 1 usb connection, 1 regular stereo jack input. If you want a mini usb you need another cable converting a regular usb to a mini usb to plug-in on the OEM USB cable. Either way you need a longer cable as the cable supplied by mercedes benz is ony 12" long that is why they moved the media input from the glove compartment to the centre console on the 2012s as a lot of people are complaining about the short cables and ease of access.

Or in this case, the GLK brochure. Centerfold, left page, heading Entertained: "In addition to the standard AUX audio jack." A.K.A. RCA out to RCA in cable from the headphone jack on the music box to the GLK's AUX input jack. 2'-3' of Male-Male RCA cable shouldn't be more than a couple bucks. Or you could go to Worst Buy and pay more. NOT!

2010: USB and AUX in glovebox
2011: IPOD connector and AUX in glovebox (I own 2011 with multimedia)
2012: IPOD connector, USB and AUX in center console.
All of these with multimedia package. Without multimedia: AUX in glovebox
