Thanksgiving, 2011: GLK photos
We had a lovely day. We invited another couple to drive into town for Thanksgiving dinner. I volunteered to drive. I know. A nasty job, but somebody had to do it. 60 mile round trip for 4. Everyone was most comfortable. I managed these after we got home and before it got dark.

Thank you. Someday I may get the hang of product photography.
I almost forgot...
On our way home we had to detour around a roll over vehicle accident a few miles from the house. if the timing had been just a little different, we might have been involved in the accident. I do hope that everyone is ok.

Looks good! I would love to take a pic of our GLK in the valet reception area at our hotel. We drove down to San Antonio trough the hill country for turkey day, it has been totally awesome. Enjoy Wayne!

Thanks! Perhaps our GLK will rate front row valet treatment next week in Houston? Thanksgiving dinner on the Riverwalk did cross my mind. That would be fun.

Very nice photo gallery Wayne!
I still have my old M4-2 but I decided not to have it refurbished as it never left my side for nearly 20 years when I traveled the globe. Sadly my Leica's have now been retired to the display case where they lay as a daily reminder of the intensity we once shared. I'm a retired Wash.DC based professional photojournalist (25 years BlackStar-TIME/AFP-Washington) but still shoot commercially. Personally I try to use longer lenses when photographing cars from the 3/4 front. (Mid-tele from 80 to 200 let's say.) It helps eliminate the distortion and disproportions to the shape of the car. Huge *** front grilles and bumpers can stare at you and dominate the picture otherwise. Of course there is a time and place for distortion as well, but some car shapes fare better than others in that case. Lighting, location & composition are the most important as you know, and depending on the color and type of vehicle being used, can often help accentuate the emotions the manufacturer/designer intended.

Jonny,
The next 2 weeks will be agonizing! Followed by intense pleasure!
C230,
The mud flaps are M-B parts dealer installed. However, M-B has not redesigned the mud flaps after the rocker panels were downsized, OR the mud flaps are made for the running boards. Either way, there is an empty space on the rear face of the front mud flaps. Totally cosmetic. The Minister of Transport & Decor gave her approval.
While they may look good, they are there for function.

My prior ML had that problem with the rear mudflaps. It appears that a running board is suppose to fill in that gap it has, but still looks good and functional none the less.
Thumbs up!

I will try to get a photo. More of a void on the rear face at the rocker panel where someting on the car (running board? original rocker panel from 2010?) should fit into. It is not a hole through the flap. I'll do my best.
Then I'm going back to the dealer and ask them for the part number they ordered. If they ordered WITH running board, I will ask them to order the correct flap. If they ordered the correct flap, WITHOUT running board, then M-B is still selling front mud flaps for the 2010 model rocker panel trim.

They have the one for the running board. I've seen them(installed on vehicle on the lot with running board and without running board-2012 ofcourse) already through ParkPlace MB up here in Fort Worth.

Are you saying that I have the flap designed to fit the running board? You haven't seen my mud flaps yet. Good news: I have a photo. Left front. Taken from the rear of the flap.
So, Park Place in Dallas adds mud flaps before the sale? Cool.

I can't see it when I'm behind the steering wheel. I will speak to my dealer on Saturday about making it right. They obviously ordered the wrong flap. That said, you have to get on the ground and up close to notice it. Not something that makes it to my OCD radar.

They do not make a front set of mud guards for the smaller sill design, at least not when I checked last. I remove the flaps for the summer, and then replace them for the winter. We have two sets of 20" OEM wheels, one with winter rubber, one with OEM rubber. I will now replace the worn out Dunlop rubber with a new set of summer PZero's as seen above, and replace the snow tires with all season Dunlops for next winter, with a set of Thule chains in the trunk when I travel up north to ski.
