Either they changed things after 2010, or you have the Lighting Package with the rear, red LED turn signals and front white LED strips like the rest of us.
To answer the original question, careful what you wish for. LEDs cost more to buy and cost a LOT more to replace if and when they burn out. As for looking old, it's just a light that you can't even see when it's working. AND, living in Europe, you get the really cool AMBER LED rear turn signals that we can't have.
To all of you who are going to jump me about the long life of LEDs, as input goes up to make them brighter, longevity goes down rapidly.

Glad we got electricity. It was tough reading the TV Guide by candle light.

I have the lighting package on my 2010 also. There are no LED's in the front of the car and the rear LED's are not all LED's there is an incandescent in there also. I think MB mislead many people including myself about the LED rear lights. Yes the stop lights are LED's but not the tail lights.

The center/third brake light was a pleasant surprise. Up high. Very wide. Very bright LEDs. But then LEDs have been used as center brake lights for a long time. I've had that type of center light since 1999.

The LED lights in the fog light position are DRL's or Daytime Running Lights. They come with the HID Premium lighting package in the North American market and REPLACE the front fog lights. You do not have front fog lights in North America if you order the premium lighting package and it is not the same as the ILS system offered in other markets. Also the LED rear turn signal LED's in North American market vehicles with the Premium Lighting Package are RED LED's and not Amber like the rest of the world gets.

I only mentioned LED turn signals in the rear. M-B changed the lighting package again in 2012. Here are the front LEDs where the preferred fog lights used to be. I'll get photos of the red LED rear turn signals soon. One more time: Only the rear turn signals are LED. The brochure photos clearly show the horizontal rows of LEDs in the middle section of the tailight assembly.

Why? Cost most likely.
These fancy lights are too new to be broken yet. I dread the day when the LED lights need fixing. Fingers crossed-my 12 1/2 year old, 151+k mile LED center brake light has never needed repair. Which is btter than the newer cars I see every day with non-working brake lights.

Well the new 2012 C class does have full LED tails, so maybe next year (2013) when the GLK is slated to get a make over, they'll do the same for it.

My point was as I recall the 2010 GLK brochure said that the premium lighting package had LED TAILLIGHTS not just stop lights and to that end I think it was misleading. I never complained as the manufacturer has the right to make changes at any time without notice. If I remember in another thread you were talking about 6 disk vs single disk CD changer. If they made it a single and that's not what you anticipated that would be another one of the manufacturers prerogatives.

For some reason I am unaware of, the FMVSS 108 is being used to force passenger vehicles sold and registered in North America to revert to RED colored lighting if LED's are used for rear facing turn signaling. Amber light bulbs are still allowed for rear signaling but if the light source is an LED and the vehicle was designed to be sold after model year 2005, the LED turn signals must be red. This happened about the same time yellow LED's were approved for use in emergency vehicle light bars, but I don't know if there is a connection between those two changes in vehicle lighting laws.
The work around for that is to replace the DOT lighting fixture with one from a European source. The European lights are plug and play and it cost me around $450 back in 2010 when my GLK was still factory fresh. The LED's are on a circuit board that is not removable so there is no way to just take the lighting board out and replace the red LED's with amber ones. I guess I should sell those DOT red LED fixtures to someone on eBay because there is no way I am going to put the red ones back and there seems to be no way I can upgrade the red LED's to amber.

At any rate, I'm with you; amber is my preference.

In a sea of red tail & brake lights, amber stands out and gets your attention. It is also the color of 2/3s of the turn signals on the car. The mismatch is odd at best. Alas, it isn't $450 odd. I will have to "make do" with the current arrangement. The ginormous LED array across the upper edge of the rear glass certainly gets folks attention. The size, location and use of LED lighting is perfect. That is an improvement in rear lightling relative to my 3 previous vehicles.
