No actually I had the same sound on two different 2012 GLK350's so figured it was normal with A/C. Maybe I'll mention it today, I'm going for my pano sunroof problem. Will let you know what they say.

Haven't seen the auto dirty; the wife is spectacular under any condition.

Well if it's coming from the engine bay, that's it... there have been several posted TSB's on the issue across all iterations that use the 3.5L engine.

I made an effort to listen to the A/C with/without recirc. on yesterday & this morning. Audio off. Sitting at lights. Engine idling. In AUTO mode I could barely hear the fan. I could tell it was on. Very quiet. Pressing the recirc. button the fan sound went up a decible or so. Still quiet, but not as quiet as the recirc. switch off. When I switched the recirc. off, I could hear the flapper moving to it's open position. When the car was moving or with the radio on, you can't hear the A/C system no matter how the switches are set. In a word: quiet.

Mine def has a faint whistling sound when recir button is pressed and when pressed off you can't hear it. They said they also thought that was normal...but that doesn't seem normal to me, however, both my 2012 GLK 350's did it. My daughter noticed it first then I did.

No whistle in mine. Just a slight increase in volume. The tone stays the same. Or I'm deaf.

When I have my A/C on it's not in AUTO mode...it's on the third speed and the recirc is on and that's when I hear the light whistle sound.

Interesting. I'll try that. However, since 1999 & 3 vehicles, the climate control system has been set to AUTO. Works for us. On the Gulf Coast. First New Orleans & now Houston & East Texas. Perhaps that explains the quiet.

UPDATE: Checked the oil & finished recording a CD at lunch. Checked A/C & Recirc. Manual mode. All fan speeds. No whistle. Just fan sound. Even tried MAX cold for the first time. Just fan sound. Reset to AUTO where it will stay.

Same Problem on my GLK 2012 only 190miles

UPDATED - head tech found the problem. The seal in the heater box needed to be replaced. So they put a new seal in the heater box (I guess heats the air that comes into the heating system???) and noise is gone so if anyone else is having this wind noise problem, ask the dealership to check on this seal. Part had to be ordered and car should be good tomorrow.

Information from service report:
CONFIRM CUST COMPLAINT, FOUND WHISTLING NOISE FROM CAR AT HIGHWAY
SPEEDS, PERFORM EXTENSIVE TEST DRIVE, APPLIED TAPE TO ELIMINATE NOISE
FROM WINDOWS OR SUNROOF, R/R WIPER COWLING, FOUND NOISE WOULD GO AWAY
WHEN TAPE WAS APPLIED OVER AIR INTAKE FOR OUTSIDE ON HEATER BOX, R/R
GLOVE BOX, FOUND NOISE COMING FROM SEAM ON HEATER BOX, SEAM WAS
CAUSING WHISTLING NOISE WHEN OUTSIDE AIR WOULD ENTER BOX AT HIGHWAY
SPEEDS, DRAIN COOLANT, EVAC AR/C SYSTEM, R/R DASH AND DASH SUPPORT,

R/R AND A/C HEATER BOX, USED BUTTLECORD TO SEAL A/C BOX, REINSTALL A/C
BOX, RECHARGE A/C SYSTEM, CORRECT COOLANT LEVEL, RETEST DROVE AFTER
REPAIR, FOUND WHISTLE WAS ELIMINATED, CLEAR CODES, ALL O.K NOW.
I found this on the site, I took my GLK in on Saturday they took out the heater box and the seal was separating and bent. MBUSA is Ordering new heater box will install Wednesday. I'll keep you all posted on Noise. Im not happy with a new car going to service already.
