Our New Baby!

We just took delivery of our specially ordered new member to the family. A brand new 2012 C300 4-Matic. Since I've been posting here on the GLK thread for years, I'd thought I'd share. We had hoped that Mercedes would have made the C350 available in 4-Matic for the States since they just recently introduced the Coupe with that option. Nope, that sadly didn't happen so we settled for the smaller 3.0L engine since 4 wheel drive is necessary in our family. We are avid skiers. That's our only disappointment. (Sorry for the iPhone pictures. Better ones will come after some mods and the removal of the lower chrome trim.)

It's loaded except for the rear spoiler (didn't like the new rear spoiler design for the 300) and the Panorama roof.

Very very slow
Very nice.
Looks like the C300 replaces the Q5.
I thought you didn't like the Keyless-Go feature.

Thanks for sharing.

Danke schön! I really don't like keyless-go, but the sales guy convinced me that it helps the resale value significantly... Yup we sold the Q5 to a close friend who needed it more than we did.

Thanks guys! There is a rumor that the new DI 3.5L 4-Matic will be coming toward the very end of the W204 production run, but we couldn't wait.

I believe there is a very small possibility to have car that was produced in S.Africa if you live on the west coast of the USA. I believe there are only two places currently producing W204 Sedans on the globe, South Africa and Sindelfingen Germany. Therefore the 07P for the USA/Canada is moot!

Actually the late 2012's and 2013 C-300 4-Matics are slated to have the new but detuned direct injected 3.5L producing around 250HP. That's now a fact.

I have always like black cars with beige interiors specially if the carpets are black. too bad it is a pita to have a black car here in Vancouver as it always becomes gray after a few days. I do have a question about the beige interior. how well does it hold with the dirt and wear and tear versus the black type....I am guessing those are MB-text right?
can you get a GLK with that kind of set-up inside?

Thanks guys! Actually, to be critical, there are a few exterior body panels that don't fit very well. My Nissan is flawless, but this C does have a few. Passenger door to front fender is offset. The fuel filler door sticks out way beyond the rear quarter panel (not flush at all & there's no adjustment) and the driver-side doors aren't flush with each other either! Other than that, the car is very nice and is an added welcome.

The interior will be a PITA alright. A little too *bright* for me and will need extra care to keep clean. It is Leather, not MB-TEX. (See OP) Believe me, I would have preferred MB-TEX but this color combo was not available in Tex.

about the fuel door...it is also common for the GLKs. Mine was already replaced when I complained to the dealer about it sticking out beyond the panel. I think it is because it is plastic and it is warping. that interior is really nice dude. Just make sure do not ever sit on it with a new pair of jeans

Hey thanks for the compliment! Actually I believe it's the glue they're using to attach the door to the hinge arm. It's slightly warping the doors as it cures. I went to the dealer and I discovered they're all warped like mine! However, our 2010 black GLK fuel door is perfect! Blue jeans, black jeans, or any cheaply dyed clothing will come off on cream leather... you're right, a complete nightmare to care for!

Hey thanks! What do you guys think about this simple mod? As promised, I removed the lower door chrome trim. Total time = 22 min. both sides.

Yes, close examination of my new GLK shows the drivers fender gap just a smidget wider than the passengers, and my door handles have the metal flakes from the Obsidian black paint, where the rest of the car is regular black. Also, passenger headlight sits just a hair off. All in all, hard items to spot, but I have some expertise in looking for these things. One of these days, will get around to making it perfect. Wasn't a deal breaker.
Strange enough though, my Alabama built ML was perfect in assembly.
