To those who've installed aftermarket subwoofer
Since the battery is in the engine compartment, how did you route the power cable for the amp to the the back? Is there a rubber gromet on the firewall that I'm not seeing that has easy access into the cabin? I did a quick look around from the top today and didn't see anything. Maybe there's something from underneath.

You'll need to open up behind the SAM module (fuse box housing on the drivers' side) to gain access to the firewall.
It is there, as I have seen my tech mechanic do his part for routing some wires of my project lighting.
Not easy though. Good Luck.

I'll have to check out that location.
I found a write up on a C300, and the guy found an empty gromet on the passenger side underneath behind the battery. I'm hoping there will be a similar one on the GLK, but I'll have to remove the battery to see:

So I bought all the parts for the subwoofer install. I decided to go with an Alpine Type R...had one in my previous car and it was really nice. I'm going to run the power wire from the battery into the cabin tomorrow and then wire in the line out converter into the the rear door speakers. I'll try to post some pics up with the process.

Alpine MRP-M500 amp (500 rms at 2ohm)
Scosche 2 channel line out converter, nothing fancy just simple converter to tap off the rear doors.
Have you done your install yet?

Got it installed at a custom audio shop last year. It took a few days and I paid 500$. You might want to get a better converter, you might have sound quality and feedback problems. They used 3 different converters when finally the LC8 worked. Sometimes with the radio off I get strange feedback through the speakers. That is why I might be changing to JL audio Cleansweep. I hope yours works out please keep us updated.

I really want more bass. I've got the HU settings as high as they will go.
Thanks

Nah, my time is too valuable to me to go chasing down issues I caused by screwing with a perfectly good car.
If I want a better stereo (or whatever) I'll order it from the dealer with the car. Then the whole thing is under warranty, and if there are any problems they can deal with them.
