I have a 2010 GLK 4 Matic which comes with Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico and have over 35,000miles on them and still do not need replacement. 50% highway driving thou.

I just had my tires replaced (had Dunlaps... 22,600 miles) - 2010 GLK RWD - 19 inch wheels - again not much selection in the 235/50R19 category, so I went wider with 245/45R19... more selection. Bought these -

Perfect fit / no rubbing / more rim protection with a little extra deep rib along the outside wall.

Very happy - saved a bundle compared to other options.

Sounds like a fairly soft tread compound.

Had an issue this past weekend. Live in Dallas, and wife was in Houston this past Holiday weekend. She left Houston towards Beaumont and had her drivers rear tire go flat. She picked up a nail. Since this was Sat evening, she called MB Roadside to put spare on. She spent the nite in Beaumont, expecting that I could direct her to get a replacement in the morning.

She has the AMG package with the 20" wheels, so I started checking on the 235/45-20 tires. I checked Discount, NTB, Sears, Sams, Goodyear, Firestone, and a few independants for the tire. Noone carried that size in any brands they stocked. All said it would be Tuesday before they could get one.

Since she was heading to see family before coming back to Dallas, she continued on the spare at 55MPH up to Jasper, while I checked in Lufkin. I ended up calling over 30 tire shops in Lufkin and could not find that size there either.

She finally came home (driving 55 on a spare that was only rated for 50 miles), and had 400 miles on the spare. We ended up having a local Goodyear replace the tire Tuesday.

So does anyone know if the 255/45-20s (that some have posted switching to) are more readily available than the 235/45-20s?

I'm getting ready to purchase the Michelin Primacy for my GLK-350 as well. My question is this: What's the worst case scenario with me purchasing only 2 right now and the other 2 @4-weeks later?

Question: Which size Primacy? Michelin still doesn't list the OEM tire size in any line.
Worst case: You will loose out on the near continuous rebate from Michelin. As I recall, the last time I bought a set of 4 Michelins, the rebate was $70.

Do you have 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive? Different size or type tires puts a strain on the diff's. A wider tire will generally have less bite in snow depending on the tread but may protect the rim from curb rash.

Thinking of going with Pirelli Scorpion Assimetrico.

I replaced Pirelli Scorpion Assimetrico tires with the same thing after doing some research, The Dunlops and Bridgestones were more expensive and had poorer wear numbers. They have been quiet and gave me around 40K miles. I can't complain but wish there were more top rated choices.

I live in Florida and summer tires are perfect. I see a lot of 20" tire advice above but how about 19" like I have on my GLK? Michelin???
Possible size options for the 19" wheels that will work on the GLK????

The Tire Rack website has lots of info on tire size options. Check that. I'm not going to change tire sizes when my time comes.

I just had a nightmare of an experience with my 235X50X19 Continentals. While traveling through Yellowstone Park in the early morning dark, I hit some rocks from a rock slide caused by bad weather. Ruined the right front tire:



Fortunately I had discovered a mistake in original equipment, which was supposed to be run flats on mine. They weren't. After several contacts with MB-USA I was provided a space saver spare. Unfortunately it was defective, with a broken valve stem:



With help of a nearby resident,



I managed to get the car towed, spare fixed and I limped my way first to Cody, WY and then to Salt Lake City, about 500 miles @ 50mph. There were no replacement tires north of Denver or Salt Lake City. Managed to find 6 exact replacements in a Big O warehouse in SLC, replaced the tire and went on my way. Incidentally, my mpg @ 50mph averaged over 45mpg, with one segment @ 48mpg!

While engaging the pretty sharp tire installer at that Big O I brought up the subject of tires brands. I had all but decided I was going to replace the Conti's with Michelins with which I've had great success on most of my past MB's. I asked the guy about them as compared to the Conti's. He equated them in all respects except for the fact that he has seen many Michelins with cracked rubber on the sidewalls just below the tread and parallel to it. He showed me some take-offs. I've been quite happy with the Conti's in all respects, including some light snow near my home, and I like their performance. I also learned I had been given some bum information by the MB dealer on tire wear at A service. I saw the measurement here on all my tires with 14K miles and it was 10/32" all the way around. I have a long way to go for replacement but I've pretty well decided I'm sticking with the Conti's in the original size.

Please. I need info on the GLK 350 19inch rim summer tires not the diesel with run flats.

I put michelin all season 19s on my to replace the terrible dunlops that came on it. The michelins are much nicer riding. So far so good. Put ~6k on them so far and they still look pretty new in contrast to the oem dunlops which looked terrible at the 8k-10k mark.

When I took delivery of my 2013 GLK 350 over 2 yrs ago I had the dealer install 19" Michelin MXV4's. Now with over 17,000 mi little wear and great ride. Incidentally this is the tire recommended by Tirerack. Great choice!.

Thanks for the advice guys.
After a personal contact with Tire Rack the Summer tire I chose was Michelin Super Pilot Sport (Max Performance Summer) 255/45zr19's.
They should work out extremely well in Florida where it is always wet or hot and never freezing.

I put 245 45 20 AS 3'S on my 2010 Glk. I chickened out and did not go 255 45 20 I have 17 inch AS3"s on a 2003 CLK430 and really like them

I just replaced 235/50-19 Continental contacts with super comfort, multiple nails I didn't know I had and still over with Yokohama YK580 sold at Discount tire. I only needed an axle's worth but went with the whole set. Don't recall seeing these as an option a couple of years ago, so perhaps they are newly introduced.

These are supposed to be really good at fuel economy and though it's only been a month, I have been getting about .4 additional mpg in my regular driving.

I think the Continentals were more comfortable and if I were to rate them at a 9 then I would rate these as an 8, so not too bad. In all other areas these have been more than worth the cost.
