20 July News flash on 013s
The Bremen factory is not building in August.
"the factory has informed us there is a short term shortage of panorama roof413 beginning in August....A new option has been created that removes 413 from the P01 package to a Q01 package priced at US $2050. A number of Aug Sept orders have already been changed from P to Q...."
This was a paraphrase for brevity.

The Pano roof in its iterations has been problematic for MB since it was first introduced in SLs in the 90s, see the latest issue of The Star for more info.

That is great news. I never use my sunroof and would have even less use for the pano roof here in Arizona.
I may order a 2013 GLK once I drove the new one and I hope this revised option will still be available.

We agree with the inutility of the roof for us, too, and we are in CT. We'd rather have the $1400 to spend on other options like the upgraded HK sound system. The stock system in the 12 sucks.
One dealer said he thought it was stupid we were ordering Q01 because the car would be impossible resell!

The parts they ordered probably didn't come up to standard from the supplier. However, if it has to be speced and installed so meticulously we wonder about the long term viability of the Pano roof or it going out of wack since we are planning on buying and keeping the car. If the problem is leaks the water may get into the bodywork and the electronics. Rust and electrical shorts, and no robots to replace them!
If you lease it with the Pano roof for 30 months, you don't have that problem. Mb does. What is the resale then?

My Pano is great! In fact I LUV IT SO VERY MUCH! It actually adds structural stability to the car. Makes the inside so bright and airy if and when needed. Haven't seen any leaks personally. But some 2012's did report a small leak. I'm sure it was a minor cause. It could also be a matter of target marketing, price and/or part availability from their subs.
