2012 GLK 350 4Matic
GLK Satisfaction

Hello,

New guy to owning a GLK, traded in a Golf TDI for a 2012 GLK 350 4Matic. So far its been an awesome drive. Like any new car I know there will be some issues.

I was wondering how many people out there are still happy with their GLK after owning it for a few years and what kind of high mileage people are getting up to without any major problems ?

Cheers,
Jason

Mercedes GLK 220 CDI 4-Matic - 2011
2011 GLK 220 CDI 4-Matic, living in Stockholm Sweden so European version. Unsure if there is any difference apart from the engine compared to all 350 in the US and Canada. 24.000km so not much but very satisfied. No issues at all so far. Everything working from the start. Hopefully it stays that way.....

We purchased our 2012 GLK 350 4MATIC new last February, so we don't quite fit your criteria, but anyway...

We've already put 11,500 miles on it and absolutely love the vehicle. We didn't put that much mileage on any car we owned in the past in a year! But then, being recently retired helps

During our 6 months of ownership we've made two long trips. The first was a 1400 mile round trip to Tucson and the other was a 4300 mile trip through the northwest states. Both trips were extremely pleasant, owing to the comfortable ride, quiet interior and good road manners. The AC is up to the task, even when we hit regions where the OAT (outside air temp) was hovering around 104 to 106 degrees.

The heated seats added greatly to relaxed comfort during long distance days. The navigation system, while not perfect, took the stress out of getting from point A to point B in unfamiliar areas of the country. Certainly, it made planning for fuel stops, pit stops, lodging and food a breeze.

We averaged 24.9 MPG on the first trip and exactly 25.0 for the entire 4300 mile trip.

We have experienced zero defects in the car, except for the faulty windshield washer pump that was inoperative on the day of delivery. No rattles, no squeeks, no nothing.

I'd be remiss not to mention that my wife really likes this car. I've never seen her so excited about any car. At first, she did seem a bit intimidated by all the electronic goodies, but after watching them in use she's beginning to really appreciate the benefits.

I've got one of the first 2010's that came out in January of 2009. It has 40K on it and other than a bad rear hatch motor that MB replaced I have not had an ounce of trouble. I had my drivers window auto up function stop working. Searched on the forum and found out how to re-index the window and that's it. I get about 22 MPG in mixed driving and love it. Hope you have a good time with yours.

Love ours/
Bought it new last October2011.
Close to 11K on ODM.

No issue...yet.
Like any automobile, owners have to be able to do their D&D to keep their rides in tip top shape.

Good to hear the great feedback. I had gone to the dealership to only look at the new 2013 GLK that had come in and the sales person let me take a 2012 for a test drive and offered $10,000 off, next thing I knew I owned one. Couldn't turn down the deal of the 2012's they were clearing out.

My one Nit to Pick:
Cargo capacity. Considering the considerable exterior bulk, the interior cargo space leaves much to be desired.

The muscular exterior design fools the eyes into thinking it's a big rig but parked next to another cute ute it's very very "compact"! Anyone noticed the double window glass seals I never seen anything like that before?

Parked in the garage next to our 2004 Volvo XC70 the GLK looks huge.
Open the tailgate of both vehicles and the XC70 is cavernous by comparison. Glad we have both.

Has any1 noticed that the GL is a 'supersized' GLK now.

Looks can be deceiving or maybe the XC70 has grown since 2004.

XC70: 190.5 x 73.3 x 63.1 inches
GLK: 178.3 x 74.25 x 66.9

I bet that extra foot of length ads a lot of cargo space.

2013 Infiniti G37 Coupe; 2011 GLK 350 w/ Premium 1, Multimedia & Sport Appearance; I LOVE IT!
Ours was 2 years old in August; about 12,000 miles, only a few minor issues which were quickly corrected by the dealer.

My wife drives it mostly; she is VERY hard to please and she loves it.

What else is there to say..?

GLK350 4matic
I've got a 2011 4Matic with 20K miles on it now. Have had absolutely no problems with it, and, really like the performance it delivers. Typically, on trips, it delivers 24 MPG.

My 2012 with only 2400 miles has a problem - the drivers door interior handle no longer opens the door so I have to put the window down and open from the outside. The dealer has had the part backordered for 2 weeks and says the whole door panel has to be replaced. I have never had to wait this long for a part on my older Mercedes. Strange but still love the car.

Agreed, the cargo area is a bit small. But, not a big problem for the two of us (empty nesters) when it comes to traveling or shopping. We do occasionally plop stuff on the rear seats. We had plenty of room on our two big trips and didn't even bother pulling down the rear seat backs.

On the other hand, if our kids were still living with us I'm sure we would've purchased a larger vehicle - mission requirements and all that...

The K is for kurz, which is German for "short."
