Painting GLK Exhaust
Hi - I am considering painting the exhaust mufflers black on a 2010 GLK.
Has anyone tried anything similar?

MBWorld Fanatic!
Very easy to do. They can powdercoat them black if it bothers you too much. Just find a reputable powdercoater in your area and talk to them.

Although I believe the new GLK has a rear panel that hides the rear mufflers, they are very visible on my 2010. I SEE THEM when I approach the car from the rear. Like it or not, they will eventually discolor and rust and they will look like those on a cheap rice-burner.
One of the first thing I did after taking delivery is to paint the mufflers with "Dupli-Color High Heat Ceramic 1200 degree Aluminum Paint (DH 1606)" from AutoZone as I have done on many vehicles. First clean the muffler with Prep-sol or the equivalent to remove grease and grime.
You can probably find 1200 degree black paint, but you may find it difficult to keep black paint looking good due to rock chips and gradual deterioration, but you can give it a try. If concerned, use the aluminum/silver-color paint which will look better than brown-discolored stainless for a long time.

Agreed! Good for you -- ignore those unhelpful comments. Here's my take:
